[Feds Endorse Kody] An online democracy, if you can keep it

If you're so funny, then why are you on your own tonight?

Dear subscriber, as you may know, I am a player who has worn many hats. Bowler hats, those cool hats you see at the Kentucky Derby, and the hat of political director for the Federalist Party. And sometimes the Feds are all like "Paul, where are your party articles?" and "Paul, you said you'd write something" and "Paul, why did you steal my stamp collection, seriously give it back."

So, the rest of this article will be in service of that hat. And by that hat I mean the Federalist Party. Not hat making. If you were here for hat making, I am sincerely sorry about the abject lack of millinery in this piece.

Ok. I'll get to the point.

The Federalist Party has endorsed Kody5 for President.

So why did the Feds endorse Kody? Well, he's a Fed, but more than that Kody really wants to be President. Ever since he came back a few months ago he has been insatiably asking questions and involving himself. As a player afflicted with the ennui that infects us all and drives us to maintain a perilously boring status quo, I was first affronted, then confused, then refreshed. Kody is like Coke. Like the soft drink. Everyone likes coke right? Where was I...

Kody is the coke, the ice is...apathy maybe? I don't know man

In seriousness, I was impressed. A lot of players come back talking big about wanting to run campaigns like it was 2013 but then disappear when confronted with the reality of our current moment. To be active, to write articles, to get involved, is the definition of high effort low payoff. But Kody has convinced me that when he says he wants to be President, he doesn't just want the medal. He wants to try to be a president who does it all, and, for better or for worse, he means it.

In other words, the Feds endorsed Kody because he cares.

But there's another reason the Feds endorsed Kody. It's because we care.

And it sometimes seems like we're the only ones. I'm not talking about the people in charge. Thee Dude, Voots, they're great people who care a lot about the eUS and I am grateful they care enough to dedicate their time to stewarding our country. But at some point, we as a country stopped caring about who was elected, or how. We became a country that not only accepted stewardship, but demanded it.

Fed Style also refers to my extremely cool collection of powdered wigs

Thee Dude was a good President, and last month the Feds overwhelmingly supported Dinnyin against him anyway. This isn't because we were dissatisfied, it's because we want to play a game where there's a vote on the 5th that means something, and because we thought Dinn would make a great President. Aside from WTP and the Feds, last month no other T5 party bothered to endorse anyone.

This month, the Feds are running Kody, and it is my deepest desire that the other top 5 parties take part in this election as well. I hope they endorse him as I think he's the best candidate on the ballot, but if they don't I hope they still manage participate seriously in some way. Please, don't sit it out this month, and don't sit it out next month. We can't afford that. Being a T5 isn't just a statistic, it's a responsibility to your members and to all of us.

This graphic is old enough to have a Bar Mitzvah. Save the date.

The Feds have endorsed Kody because we want a President who campaigns hard even when nobody else bothers to say a word publicly. Kody has, in his announcement, and in his cabinet announcement, and on your party's forum.

I continue to be a Fed because I want to be a party that takes that role seriously. I never want to be part of a party that abdicates it's role supporting candidates or shaping Congress, just as I don't want to be part of a political game with no politics.

I am voting for Kody on the 5th because I want a President who feels the same. I am voting for Kody because I want a President who keeps me up at night wondering if his media department is good enough. I am voting for Kody because I will not go gentle into that good night.

I hope you do as well.

Yours,
still here somehow,
Paul Proteus
