[ESO] Congratulations to all, and onwards to progress

Day 1,894, 06:14 Published in United Kingdom France by Hell The Great

ESO is an unaffiliated, centre-left party which at its root, wants the UK to progress and never stand still. A basic summary of our party would be that we as a community, believe that the main task of Government should be to assist new players in their early stages, through both guidance and financial support.

We will never join a political coalition, nor will we ever back another party's Presidential candidate in exchange for position or favours. We back Presidential candidates based on their individual merits: their plans, their history, their proven approach and their relative 'competence' compared with their competition. The party a candidate comes from has no weight in our decision.

In relation to how the party operates, power lies with those who are elected to run it, and the individuals who the Party President appoints to the in game roles that month. However, our Constitution binds the Party President to act in a timely, suitable and accountable manner at all times, or face a vote of no confidence from members. If you are interested in joining us, we also offer a completely open membership policy: any member is welcome to join and engage with the party.

Firstly, on behalf of everyone involved in our elections, and our lucky 6 candidates, I'd like to thank everyone that votes for ESO this term.

I will personally ensure that our congress team keeps people up to date with how things are going in congress, and also, that the ESO policy ideas are proposed within this term. Our goal is to turn the votes and support we got, into tangible changes that improve the UK - something which we have always believed in, and will now begin to deliver. For a reminder, our policies were outlined here.

It is interesting to compare parties this election, with oddly enough, the smallest party by membership numbers, offering the highest number of faces for to congress (either new to the game or new to congress). ESO elected 4 completely new players and 1 player who is new to congress, but has played the game for a few months. I am absolutely proud to say: every party may talk about doing all they can to help new players get involved, ESO as a party acts upon these promises, and will continue to do so. Considering we only elected 6 congress members in total, thats 80% fresh faces and new blood - how many other parties can boast such stats or even the number?

Now onto ESO policies. We will begin a process of assessing our new policy discussion, debating, voting and adoption proposal to improve upon the method for next month. We're also going to be trialling a new communication system, adopting special monthly recurring events in honour of players and events new and old, as well as continuing the work on our upcoming platform Grow With Us. GWU will hopefully be to new players of today, what The ESO Legion (now unconnected to ESO, and called The Legion) was to soldiers all those months ago when I founded it. The process of GWU will be exactly the same as Legion was. It will begin with a trialling and capacity building period and closed membership practices, extended towards ESO members, and then once we have a sustainable, workable, and independent method of running the scheme comes, just as it did with The ESO Legion, we will sever all links with the entity and allow it to operate completely independently of us, to the benefit of the whole UK.

Over the coming days we will begin our Presidential election debates. Any interested parties are encouraged to offer their candidacy to me via Private Message either on game or the forums.

As ESOs process requires a judgement of a candidates experience, plans and personality/approach, please ensure that your application includes at a bare minimum, a statement that would cover each of these points.

To win the ESO poll you will need 50%+1 of the votes cast in our poll. Should no candidate be able to do this at the first time of asking, we will have a run off. The same 50%+1 rule applies. If neither of the candidates get this 50%+1, then we will support no candidate this term. Even if you have already announced your candidacy, you are encouraged (Mr Alfagrem) to get in touch with an outline of your plans/etc so that you can be considered.

As ever, ESO members are encouraged to respond to their messages, read the forums and the feed, and visit us on IRC. Lots of love,

jamesw

PS, my party colleagues Ullok (Voter turnout) and General Slim (Candidates) have offered some analysis of the elections - give those articles a read too!
