A few small updates, and two competitions at the end of the article (one of which is open to all players of this game)! 😃

Congress elections

Thank you to everyone who was involved in the congress elections, whether you voted, candidated, shouted, or even just read the mass message that I sent around.

I think it would be fair to look on our congress partnership with the Independent Alliance as a total success (overlooking the fact that I keep misspelling their name as the "Independence Alliance" - doh!). Together we were able to leap the two UK_Ps to log the third highest number of votes in the eUK.

Both our parties thus secured three congressmen each. Well done Klurr, ViciousDeeds, and Albert 22 from IA.

From ESO, we will be represented by two first-time congressmen in Dante642 and Boxman ZULU, and then the more experienced, world-weary head of Blue And Evil. I think this represents a good balance between encouraging new players to get politically involved but also including experience and oldfaggishness to keep the n00bs in line to offer their wisdom and guidance when necessary.

I'm sure you'll agree or GTFO.



Country Presidential Elections

The next event in eRepublik's seemingly endless chain of elections is for the Country President. My spider-senses tell me that this will be a rather horrible election with more faeces-flinging than you'd normally expect in a zoo's monkey-house. So, I'd like to take this chance to remind my fellow ESOers that what sets our party above many of the rest is our commitment not to sink to the level of those others. Especially to our new congressmen and any media outlets in the party, please try not to be drawn into pouring gasoline on to any flame-wars.

As for who ESO will be backing, I have been approached so far by 3 candidates and I suspect a couple more will be in touch over the next 24hrs. By the end of the weekend I will be asking all ESO members to vote for which candidate the party should back, if any. I'm just trying to decide how best to go about it.

Anyway, look out for that. 😃



The Eat Some Omelette campaign



Recently I tried to bring the Eat Some Omelette campaign in-game, following what Jamesw had previously tried to do. It makes sense, considering the forums are not active at the moment, and I plan to continue it in-game for the duration of the my PP term.

The take-up was decent but not as large as I hoped. In total, we had 20 successful applicants. 14 of these opted for the Ham Omelette (5 x Q7 tanks) and 6 of these opted for the Cheese Omelette (1000 wellness).

So, I think we have plenty of scope to run the campaign more often, perhaps with an improved offer, and I will be interested in speaking with PPs of other parties to see what we can do to increase uptake amongst their new members, without giving it the appearance of a recruitment tool.



ESO Image and Article Reward Scheme

It's important for our party to improve its media presence and so I will now be rewarding people through one of two schemes, one of which is exclusively for ESO members and the other which is open for all players, regardless of party.

Article Reward Scheme - this is quite simple. Write an article about whatever you want and include something about the party, whether it is an update on events or just a recruitment piece. For every vote your article receives, you will be rewarded with 1 x Q7 tank and 100 wellness. So, get writing.

...and no articles rewarding votes with 50 wellness. Smart, but not in the spirit of the game. 😛

ESO Logo Reward Scheme (open to all) -




I love this style of banner which has been used by ESO members for many many months. However, I'm getting a little bored by the selection we currently have and so I would like you to design us some more.

Even Snake Obeys? Extremely Solid Oblong? Emergy Soldiers On? There are no bad ideas (although I'm pretty sure there will be many bad ideas). If you're not proficient in Photoshop or anything like that, please feel feel to use Paint and, if the idea is good, we can always get someone to do an official, shiny version.

Every image I receive will be placed before my select group of ESO judges (who have yet to be chosen). All entries will receive 5 x Q7s, but those which are given the thumbs up to be added to our library of ESO images will be rewarded with 50 Q7* tanks.

So, get designing! And if you're not designing then please list ideas in the comments section for others to take up; maybe you'll be able to negotiate a share of the prize. 😛
