[EN] New Tool: Currency for Ads

Hello fellow citizens,
as we got a quite positive feedback in my latest article about "Currency for Ads" I got in touch with the eRepublik support, asking if I would be allowed to implement such a system at eRepublik-Deutschland.de - and well: It got approved.
In this article I would like to show you what this tool is about a bit in detail and answer the most common questions. In case you don't want to read this article and experience everything directly on your own, please take a look at https://www.erepublik-deutschland.de/en/tools/currency-for-ads

1. What is this tool about?
With this tool you are able to get some extra currency for eRepublik. You are rewarded for e.g. watching ads, applying to newsletters or raffles, or downloading apps. We added it in order to give new players a way to quickly earn some money, so they are able to e.g. upgrade their training grounds or buy items more easily.
But of course this is not only for new players: If you just don't want to invest your hard earned real cash in eRepublik, this could be a way to finance your life here in game.
2. How does it work?
Short version:
You get currency for e.g. watching ads, applying to newsletters or raffles, by downloading apps or by taking part in surveys. As soon as you've collected 5.000cc you are able to request a payout of your money.
Long version:
While you perform the actions I mentioned above, I get rewarded with hard cash (USD). I will convert 85% to 95% of this into in-game currency by using the monetary market and the pack market. I am keeping 5 to 15 percent as a fee in order to create a buffer in case the gold price drops, but also to support the funding of our server. As soon as the buffer is high enough, the fee will be decreased of course.
3. How much currency can I earn per day and how much do I earn for an action (like a registration)?
There is no limit, the only limiting factor are the available offers provided by our service providers.
Basically it is possible to earn thousands of currency a day and some players may even buy packs with the currency they earned here.
I can't really tell how much currency a player gets for an action as I don't have access to the overall data of the service providers and the offers can change massively in just minutes. However, I've attached some screenshots of the free offers available here in Germany:

An example could be AdScendMedia: Just by installing all the available apps on your mobile (or an android emulator / virtual machine) you can easily make between 3.000 to 6.000 currency a day here in Germany.
4. How long does it take until I get my money?
As soon as you've reached 5.000cc you are able to request a payout. We process your requests as fast as possible, however, in worst case, due to needed administrative actions (like checking logs), the manual transfer of the money and the amount of requested payouts, it can take between 7 and up to 30 business days until you get your money.
5. I know those service providers, sometimes they don't pay!
I've got contracts with the most reliable service providers and most of the time you should receive your rewards within 24 hours. In case you don't get the money: Get in touch with the support of the specific provider (everyone of them offers a support link in the top of their "offer overview").
They are the only people who are able to help you as I just get the notification like "This users finished a survey successfully, here's the reward".
6. I don't have that many offers, can you add more providers?
This could be a problem for some of you: I can't guarantee that everyone will get the same amount of "rewarded actions" as it all depends on the amount of available advertisers for your country. Also, most of the offers may change during the day. I did a small research and basically the current providers offer more than 5.500 different campaigns a day - so may get a different amount of offers during the day.
I'm already in contact with one more provider in order to fight this problem. Nevertheless I am only adding reliable providers as there are quite some rogue firms which just abuse their users, and that's definitely something I don't need on my website.

What's coming up next?
Of course I will monitor the feedback and usage of the new tool in order to improve it (or to remove it if the feedback is overwhelming negative).
However: We are making some huge steps forward in developing the new version of the company calculator. This the highest priority now and at least I can say that a release is getting closer and closer.

No seriously, what happened in detail? Feel free to send me a PN. As soon as I am detecting malicious behaviour by one of the service providers or their partners I'll remove them.
The site charges me a dollar to confirm that I have money and return it later.
Actually I remembered that I registered in the same site before to get cc in e-**m (erep clone, they have the same service). And I remember that they returned my dollar and never charged me again, because I unsubscribed after I got my cc.
So everything should be ok, but this call scared me. They asked me if I made the purchase and I was like: "Uhhh... yeah" xD.

Regarding the cc:
Of course: Not good to hear that. But that's what I mentioned in the article. In case you don't receive your currency you need to contact the specific service provider.
I only get the following information: "Hey this user applied to a newsletter / survey / etc. - give him his currency" - as long as those actions are pending I don't get any information about them.

Worst support by Superrewards. I was told to be patient while they wait for a report back from the advertiser and the offer is gone from recent activity and I don't have points. I just realized that eRepublik has really good support compared to this company and I feel really bad for saying bad things about eRepublik support.

sorry to hear that. May I ask when you got in touch with the support? Normally you have to wait 24 hours before you are able to contact their support team.
Even though your offer isn't listed anymore, please get in touch with the support of SuperRewards again and state your problem. I know it's not very handy but that's the only possible solution available. :/

No way.
Just for your interest: Surveys or joining raffles / newsletters aren't the only offers (mostly). You may check back later as there are also quite good rewarded video ads or app downloads.
And, to be honest: Most of the games you see in the "top list" in app stores are using those systems to temporarily push their score.
Ok, everybody can create dozen of email adresses any time for avoid the spamflood, but the personal infos from RL is problematic.
My home address? Postral code? Birth date?
Phone number?
I don't think is wise decision to share this personal informations with 2th, 3th parties, unknown sides, pages. Shadow zones is dangeorous, and not just from the "nigerian princes"
I know the clever way is to lie here too, but this is not acceptable for me.
Indeed, that's a decision everyone has to make on his or her own and I completely support it. Personally, while playing other games besides eR, I'm always waiting until I receive offers where I don't have to enter my personal data.
However, just to clarify the use cases of those information you enter there: They are mostly used by third-parties located in the survey branch (like those guys who call you by phone and ask if you just got 5 minutes for answering 10 questions).

Please post a summary if this works after a week or so to see how much cc will people actually earn. If results are confirmed, I'm in !
We got a first payout 12 hours ago - 6.800cc
In total there are ~19.000cc in the database currently (not payed out yet as those people still need to get up to the 5.000cc)
I have a suggestion:
On your site you ask us not to use ad blockers. People are not willing to do that.
But....... if you offer an alternative such as making a donation to your site in lieu of disabling ad blockers you will find that people like myself would gladly do so.

I had the same one when I started developing eRepublik-Deutschland.de so the backend already supports something like that. However, such a "feature" could be understood as a way too heavy commercialization of this free service, as I would need to add the fee/donation on e.g. a monthly basis (or at least recurring).
Last but not least there aren't real "advantages" or "benefits" as all donations are given back to the community somehow but on the other hand the ads are helping to finance this service and keeping it alive.
As much as I like your idea, it doesn't help that much to finance the server.. I may create a bigger discussion about it in future but currently I'm not really sure if it would be accepted by the community.. after all, players should enjoy using this (completely free) website including all the (free) services.. such a payed service doesn't really stand for the "bigger" idea behind it.. and I'm not really the pay4something guy..
Last but not least and as announced in all earlier articles about the ads: We aren't an ad heavy platform (and we won't be in future). You won't experience more than 3 banners on a website (currently the maximum is about 2 non-intrusive ads which shouldn't influence the reading progress of the content) - no popups, popunders, videos, layers - only simple banners by Google AdSense.
Compared to some other tool websites (at least I) experience the current ratio as balanced and not too ad-heavy. (You won't believe it but even I'm not using an AdBlocker on my website, even though I'm not allowed to click 😛 - and I'm using the website multiple times a day; as an admin/developer and of course as a simple user)
Feel free to continue the discussion here, I'm really interested in your point of view about this topic.
I am actually willing to add an exception for adblock for that site. the ads are pretty decent.
