[DoE] September 2013: Revision and Refinement

Day 2,119, 22:43 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

As another term begins, I would like to take a moment to congratulate Oblige on his presidential reelection, reflect on some of last term's educational accomplishments, and lay out some new goals for the Department of Education.

August 2013: A New Way Forward

At the beginning of the last term, I set out a number of goals for our department to achieve during the course of the month of August. I am happy to report that we have met most of these objectives--frequently publishing educational articles, reviving the mentoring program, encouraging citizens to visit our IRC channel, holding a writing contest, and even creating our very own website! The one goal we did not get a chance to fulfill last term was that of updating and maintaining the Department of Education wiki pages. I wish to begin this project this month, along with several other initiatives and improvements to our current ventures.

September 2013: Revision and Refinement

Now that our department's re-creation has reached completion, the time has come for what I call "revision and refinement"--adjusting both our programs and our departmental structure to achieve optimal efficiency. I have yet to determine the final form of these modifications, but they will include the following initiatives:

IRC Program Changes

In order to make the most efficient use of our budget, the Department of Education will be altering its IRC rewards program to give out food only--for players under level 30.

To participate in the program, simply visit our IRC channel (#USA-DoE) and correctly answer the question of the day to win a daily reward of 5 Q7 food. Be sure to idle in the chat room even when no one is asking questions so you do not miss your chance at getting your reward--and the opportunity to participate in intellectual discussions with your fellow eAmericans!

Mentoring Program Curriculum Review

Another of my goals for this term is to review and revise the mentoring program curriculum as needed for currency, clarity, and effectiveness. Previous administrations have done a spectacular job of putting together the materials our mentors use to teach newer players; it is now up to us to perfect it and keep it up-to-date.

Staff Additions

We are recruiting new staff for several positions--mentors, IRC program monitors, staff writers, and more! If you are interested, please send me a message. We're always looking for more help and would be delighted if you could join us!

Cheers for a bright month!

Victory through Strength.
Strength through Unity.
Unity through Oblige!

Respectfully yours,

Tanishq
Secretary of Education
