[DMJ4POTUS] The Home Front

Mood Music: There's a starman waiting in the sky

Let’s be honest here, eAmerica. The single largest issue facing our eNation is lack of fun. Citizens tend to stick their parties or military units. These are valuable communities within the country, but why aren’t we enjoying each other’s company? Even if we don’t agree on the issues, we can still interact and play this game, together. Here’s what I’ve got in store for the home front this month.

First,I have great news: you won’t have to leave the house. Ergo, no pants required! eRepublik is marketed as a social experience. We should be making the most of that!

Defense

Obviously this department has a dual-purpose in terms of domestic vs. external responsibilities, but as there are changes happening here, I want to address it right off the bat. As you may or may not know, the Defensive Dictatorship Law has been changed recently to move the Dictator role from the United States Armed Forces (USAF) military unit into the eUS Civilian Unit. President Israel Stevens requested that Congress make this change to allow him to assign Oblige as the Commander of the USAF, including mechanically in-game. I personally voted against the change, but the vote passed and thus it is the situation as it stands.

This change represents a return to the past in terms of ownership of official government military units. When the USAF was merged, the President was established as the in-game commander. This was by design, both to retain the military unit in the event of operations personnel going rogue, and to give the President direct control over the orders, make order setting easier through multiple people with access, etc. Prior to this, there were multiple branches within the USAF and each had it’s own military unit and commander. Throughout history, there have been a couple of incidents that left a bad taste in the mouth of those around to experience them with regard to this type of setup.

Because we are at a crucial transition in the way our official military will operate, I am bringing in an old hand to lead the Defense Department this month. He helped to form the United States Armed Forces back at their infancy and has always been a reliable and trusted name among members of the Defense community. It is for these reasons that I have chosen Avruch to serve as my Secretary of Defense.

Media

I mentioned this in my announcement of my intention to run, but I’ve always considered Executive media to be one of the most important aspects of a Presidency. If you don’t talk about it, it never happened. I’ll be making it a point this term as in my previous terms to write an article personally at least once a week. Aramec’s team has done an outstanding job this month keeping to their schedule and getting media out to the masses.

To keep this going next month, I’ve shifted the reigns to a relative new face who is excited to keep the energy up. Aramec took him under his Hobbit wing this past month and feels he’s ready to take on the responsibility of the big chair with the help of continued mentorship. I’m pleased to present Joey3790 as my Secretary of the Media.

I also mentioned my focus on Press Briefings in my last article. Aramec has agreed to keep that responsibility but shift his style to something more in line with my vision for the area. He’s a talented writer and more than suited for the task.

To round out the media wheelhouse, we’re bringing back eNPR this month with a couple of hosts that I think will be the most hilarious pairing to ever grace the desk. We’ll be shooting for a weekly show on Thursday evenings. I’m really excited to see what these two can put together for us.

Citizen Affairs

I’ve had the pleasure of working on some of the new eAmerican University content this month. Our domestic programs in the DoCA are vital to keeping citizens engaged and helping them grow in their early days. The eAmerican University will continue to be a focus for improvement as we continue the transition into the new content model and its status as the replacement for the USAF’s Flight Training program. Other programs like BU2SU will continue to operate and we’ll look at ways to improve efficiency, whether by more personnel or more spreadsheet magic. I snagged a really hard worker for this department; I’m really excited to see what he can do. I am proud to announce Carhugar1 as Secretary of Citizen Affairs.

Activities

It’s pretty public knowledge that in RL, I’m LDS (Mormon). One thing that the church has a lot of, at least before you’re married, is activities. I actually dated two different women (not at the same time) who were both Activities co-Directors (not simultaneously) for our group. This month, I’d like to focus on some legitimately fun activities. Trivia nights, scavenger hunts, video game nights, movie nights, etc.

I’m personally going to host some video game nights in April. I have PC and XBox One, so we’ll find some games that a fair sized group all has and we’ll set up a night to get on and shoot at each other in real time. eRep isn’t the only game we all play, so let’s enjoy some others together.

To help me plan out the other activities and events, I’m bringing in a rising star with a commitment to her jobs. I’m talking about my Activities and Fun Director, Jaden A.

I’m gonna cut things off here for this article because it’s getting a bit long. In a couple days. I’ll have the rest of my team for you. As always, if you have questions, message me, leave them in the comments, or visit one of the Top 6 party forums for my Q&A threads.

Dio bless you, and Dio bless the eUnited States of America.
