[Derp4PotUS] You've Got to be Kind

"God damn it, you've got to be kind.” ― Kurt Vonnegut.

tldr: Derphoof Now; Derphoof Forever

Always relevant mood music

Fellow Americans, it is I. Whatever that means. I may not know all of you, or perhaps I do. It's amazing how sometimes nothing changes, and yet, sometimes, everything does.

It does appear to me, though, that the office of the presidency has recently fallen into the former category. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. The game's long been stagnant. It's too late to change that. And maybe that's okay. But sometimes, dammit, doesn't it feel like that's not enough?

I'm going to stop myself here. I've written this article dozens of times. I've written this genre of article for almost a decade. Sometimes nothing changes, and sometimes everything does.

What do you expect? It's not 2012, this is all you get

Look: Listen up and I'll tell a story. There are two different types of players in this game. There are those who play this game. Some of them have played it well. Some of them are even remembered with something like reverence, you can hear their names echo unspoken in every musing about what previously hallowed tradition we're dispensing of next. As if that has anything to do with playing this game well. And many among us keep playing this game. And some of us have a hard time not asking the obvious...what's the point?

And then there are players who don't. There are those who choose to change the game. There are those who want to take the lemon-like pixels we're given, and create something special. Players who value community, even if that community is just the twelve of us who never understood the concept of sunk costs. In other word, players who tilt at windmills. Delusional people, really. The only kind of person worth knowing.

Derphoof is one of those players.

Yes, I am reusing Derp's images. GBM has sadly laid off our image making staff. Get over it.

I promised this would be short. After all, I'm not sure who is reading this. And if you are, you probably are asking yourself why you should listen to someone who barely plays. But that's exactly why you should listen to me.

Derphoof makes people care, even when there's nothing to care about.

That should be reason enough to make Derphoof president.

If you read anything, read this: Vote for Derphoof.

That's all. Derp didn't ask for this, hopefully someone likes it. I have so much to do, but it's nice to check in. Also I miss the Fed Forums already.

Yours in eternity,
Paul Proteus
