[CPF] Put Some Blue Moose in Congress (Day 2134)

Day 2,134, 07:51 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

Forward...

I was last elected to eCanada congress over two years ago, in July of 2011, under the MOO Banner. I was last elected to eCanada congress under the CPF banner in August of 2010. I have many memories of congress, plenty of debate and plenty of legislation, and I recall fondly the Congressional Medal I earned as a CPF Congressman. On September 25, 2013, I will be seeking the support of the electorate to put CPF congress Candidates, and hopefully myself, into office.

On what I hope to help the CPF accomplish...

I am looking forward to bringing a more unified front to the Canadian Progressive Front. I'd like to reintroduce the "party whip" from days gone by and make sure that the CPF advances eCanada through the political fronts of key issues.

The key CPF issue at the moment is eCan's trial membership in CoT. The CPF supports the trial membership in CoT and I commit to making sure eCan's trial goes well. We only get one chance to make a first impression.

Another issue is eCan's tax holiday. There is concern that it is fiscally irresponsible and not viable inlight of our defence requirements. I intend to get involved in this debate as well to ensure that we keep our taxes as attractive as possible to would-be immigrants without sacrificing our ability to provide a national defence (MPPs and MU Funding)

I commit to following the CPF tenets, whether I am elected to congress or not:

The Tenets of the Canadian Progressive Front
1. Uphold the equality of all active Military Units
2. Make the accounting of government funding more open and important
3. Ensure Canada is a reliable and selfless ally
4. To respect, recognize and uphold the supremacy of the mechanics of the game
5. Develop a positive political sphere
6. Bring in Canadians to eRepublik
7. To encourage growth and stability to the eCanadian economy

On why I am interested in being a congressman...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Once you have experienced participating in debate and developing legislation, you get hooked. It is very fulfilling to spend time and collaborate with others to pull off projects like the War Bonds Act, Tax Reform, and Alliance Membership. It is also fulfilling to answer your country's call of crisis to develop recovery plans, to deal with a wipe or a theft of the treasury. It is also satisfying when you know that things are in control in the government and that the proper course of action is to remain calm and resist the urge to tinker. I would like to put my experience to use for the country's benefit and stoke those inspirational fires within me as well.

Competition makes for a better group of congressmen. I am abundantly aware that the "new guard" of eCanadians has been manning the bridge for quite a while now, and they have done an admirable job dealing with some of the legacy messes that my generation of players left them. I see this "new guard" maturing and this can lead to complacency. Having the "old guard" compete with them will cull the herd, pun intended, so that only the best carry on. This may also squish out some new blood, but I believe that eCanada is at a fairly critical juncture right now and its needs to be at the top of its game. In the ebb and flow of turbulent political waters, a top notch team should deal with a change in alliances, a revitalization of its relationship with eUS, and facing a wipe of eNorth America. I am committed to raising the bar of quality for eCanada's congressmen, by either participating in congress myself or making sure that only the best get in.

On what I bring to the table...

I've got baggage. I've thrown a fit or two, been Captain of the Butthurt Brigade. Some people don't like it but I consider it moxy and a necessary part of developing a reputation. I'm reasonable but not a push-over or yes man. I don't insist on having my way but I insist on having my say, and everyone should be entitled to that. If your say its squashed, its grounds for butthurt!!!

I also have experience. I have fought for four countries (eCan, eUS, eIndia, eTurkey), been involved with several high profile MU's (CO, COI, Special Forces, UAgg), PP in two countries for three parties, and I've been a congressman in two countries. Although I am probably infamous for being a numbers guy, I also have international military experience and foreign affairs experience in both EDEN and Terra.

When I'm active, I'm all-in active, and at this point in the game I'm active again.

Denouement

It has been a long time since I've participated in a CPF congress election, some of my best memories in this game were spent in Strategic Voting Teams on election day with the CPF outscrambling parties twice its size for congress seats. SVT isn't as relevant anymore but I look forward to the ride and supporting my CPF colleagues regardless.
