[CP] State of the Union (Day 2173)
Addy Lawrence
THE MANDATE
On October 5th, a majority of eCanadian voters provided me with a mandate to build an eCanada of vision, passion, and purpose. I have an outstanding team of people to help me achieve this:
Vice-President, Rylde
Vice-President, Acacia Mason
Minister of Defence, klop123
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shoi12
Minister of Finance, Bryan Alexander.
STATE OF THE UNION
Opening Remarks
This will likely be my second last article as CP this term. It's been a pretty predictable term with an illegal impeachment attempt, CDC leaks, and no real options for war given the Alliance-wide NAP between eSpain and eCanada. Here's to a strong finish.
On the Alberta RW with eSwiss...
eSwiss has an enemy, eSlovenia. eSlovenia started a RW in Alberta in the hopes of wiping eSwiss, again. Not this time.
eSwiss are our allies. Our friends. They pay eCanada rent for Alberta. It belongs to them under the "Swiss Cheeseburger with Canadian Bacon Agreement".
I ask you one and all to fight for eSwiss in Alberta.
On trade embargoes with TWO/ACT nations...
I am an economics guy and I don't like providing economic benefits to the enemy. TWO/ACT nations have offers of raw and product in our marketplace. When we buy their goods, we fund their military activities. Their goods are competitively priced, but competitively priced goods are provided by CoT and neutral nations as well.
I have started moving trade embargoes to block trade with TWO/ACT nations. It will take a while to get them all in place, but when its done it will send a clear message regarding who our allies are.
Critics claim that this will increase the cost of raw and product to the consumer and there is some merit to it. Fortunately there is so much raw out there that eCan prices are at par with international standards. The real issue is to watch Q7 food and weapon prices to see if they continue to remain competitive.
I surmise they will, but it is best to confirm by monitoring the situation.
On the Military of Opportunity...
I started an MU in late September before I fell into the CP race. My goal was to start a new type of MU and this is going to be my focus on November 6th.
The Military of Opportunity is going to focus on the development of new players through the use of Combat Orders. Combat Orders for Division 1 and Division 2 are going to be issued for the exclusive benefit of MU members. Members will earn CC by participating in these battles. Senior members of the MU will support the junior members of the MU with work arrangements and voluntary mentorship programs. The goal is to eliminate the need for a new player to click the work button, neither for an employer nor themself, so that they can stay in Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 for as long as possible. In fact, to enter into the program, Division 1 players will be required to liquidate their companies and invest in training facilities so that they "rank like a tank" in strength and damage.
I am going to expand on this in a single topic article later on this evening.
On the Congress Black (No-Fly) List...
In an ironic twist, the legislation that was spurred on by Leo Balzac's leak of CDC activity could not add Leo Balzac to the list due to a lack of quorum on the vote.
It would appear that there were not enough congressmen on the plane.
On Rylde for CP...
Rylde is a leader. He is charismatic and a great soldier. He spends RL money on the game in support of national interests, like some other candidates out there.
Rylde was CP for two consecutive terms. The first one went fabulously well as Rylde had his finger on the pulse of the nation. Rylde's CP term exploded when he outed the eUS for selling out to the enemy. Rylde stood up for what he believed in, which is standing up for his allies, and he paid the price as being the reason why eCan/eUS relations have been so strained ever since. Being remembers for standing up for what you believe in is a good thing.
Rylde also picked a fight with eSpain when he insulted them. eSpain jumped in to defend their little sister eUK when eCanada was pistol-whipping them. Overmatched and staring down a wipe, Rylde chose to go down with his boots on, akin to screaming obscenities at his oppressor as they shot him execution style. You could say that Rylde poked the bear with his insults, but eCan really poked the bear before that by attacking eUK, and this was done with the support of the nation.
Rylde stands fast for what he believes in and he believes that maintaining the NAP is the best course of action for eCan right now. Sure he wants to Air Strike someone, I think we would all enjoy that, but he knows the stakes. He has committed to maintaining the NAP and in my experience with Rylde, he keeps his word when he gives his word.
Fortune favours the bold, and Rylde is bold. Don't fault him because he's bold, its an occupational hazzard. Rylde will deliver excitement and in my opinion is the only leader who can unite the clans of eCanada.
Rylde for CP.
Closing Remarks and Shameless Plugs...
On November 5th you'll elect a new CP for eCan, I'll be voting for Rylde, I hope you do too.
Who's your daddy?

Voted, well I am not a fan of Rylde but hell if he can get us some TP gold and some exciting fights then it could be a fun month if he wins.
Rylde4CP. Those were fun times.
If 99% of the div 1 and 2 players weren't multis, the MU idea would be useful.
Thx for the supporting remarks Addy.

Go for the Throat!!!
"Fortune favours the bold, and Rylde is bold."
- ya well fortune has not been favouring his kind of bold
"Don't fault him because he's bold, its an occupational hazzard. "
- think this is one of the stupidest supports for an argument you have made. Don't fault Wes then cause he likes to steal from the treasury, its an occupational hazard, deal with it.
"He spends RL money on the game in support of national interests"
- Ya and he also has done it for his parties interest, so pretty much what DMV is now doing but somehow you think it is only a good attribute when Rylde does it?
"Rylde stands fast for what he believes in and he believes that maintaining the NAP"
funny how all you guys were so against it but now you have seen the light and wont break it, even though the Workers tax was your said reason for supporting it and that has been lowered, i.e. your reason is gone... things don't add up fellas
Its never always been MDP only that i spend my funds on. I've had many tank giveaways that were nation wide in times of war.
I was never against the NAP and when it was signed agreed with it that it was time.
there has been MDP only strikes were you gave tanks only to those who were party members.
DMV gives tank and energy give away's everyday for all in the nation
Granted you had not been vocal against the NAP, maybe because you were on silent mode off in exile in USA (irony). That point was more directed towards Addy
Its not a competition to see who can give away more thats a pretty piss porr way to pick a president but based by how u guys operate CPP can't say much to ya.
Rylde, your buddy just campaigned for you in a Presidential Address! That's probably the greatest abuse of a position I have ever seen.
DMV I didn't know stating personal opinions/preferences was considered an abuse of power.
You see nothing wrong with Campaigning for a candidate in an official government article?
@DMV
I agree, it's an abuse. CP's have shown partisan support for parties, MUs or CP candidates in the past and I've criticized it myself, I recall Kaz Leblanc specifically. I'll take my lumps for Rylde.
I also think it's an abuse when people make themselves available for every campaign cabinet in play. It's not about covering your bets to get in cabinet, it's about supporting the candidate you believe will do the best job if elected.
Where are the supplies to help combat eSlovenia's attempt to RW our regions?
there are, the Swiss I believe are supplying.
We should be supplying ourselves too, what with that 40,000 CAD donate we just made 3 days ago.
why should we spend are money to help the Swiss? we would just be double supplying with Swiss anyways. You want us to spend are rent money Swiss pays us, to supply there RW fights?
I don't think either of Rylde's terms could be described as good
~MOO~
"In an ironic twist, the legislation that was spurred on by Leo Balzac's leak of CDC activity could not add Leo Balzac to the list due to a lack of quorum on the vote."
This is why eCan can't have nice things. "Black List" eh? Trying to Rolo me? How well did that work out the last time?
Alot of us couldn't bring ourselves to vote against you even after being a moron.
I probably would have voted for Rylde, since DMV and Oinyo didn't convince me, but as CP endorsing him, and your description of him, ultimately turned me away
As an experienced player, Rylde has baggage. So do I for that matter. It is a common practice for critics to sling mud in elections and target people's flaws. I wanted to bring up the rough parts of Rylde's image and deal with it "on our terms" rather than have the critics put their spin on it.
Rylde caused shit because he was bold enough to stand up to our friends and call bull-shit on their behaviour which was out of line. He also stood his ground in the face of an unpreventable wipe, like the prisoner who swears at the gunman as they are executed.
Rylde causes shit, and that is no secret and its a risk, but it also can be a lot of fun.
the 8 month hangover is not worth the hour of fun
Obviously I wasn't around for that term, but I agree with Dr. Manhattan with this one, the shit isn't worth the fun in most cases and I feel this is one of them. I'm all for fun and shits when its sensible but insulting someone much stronger than you is more dangerous than it is fun.
don't waste your breath arguing with the multi's addy
nice Rylde, to bad all of your opponents were not under level 30 so you can call them all multis and just do whatever you want.
"In an ironic twist, the legislation that was spurred on by Leo Balzac's leak of CDC activity could not add Leo Balzac to the list due to a lack of quorum on the vote.
It would appear that there were not enough congressmen on the plane."
Easy fix would be to drop the % of quorum required to ratify/pass anything in forum Congress.
Easier fix would be to admit that trying to implement a police state with forum bans is a project doomed to fail. To succeed, you'd need to make the forum actually relevant to more player's gameplay rather than the smaller number that participate in political discussions. Then again, it'd just be harder to govern eCanada if more of the riff-raff got involved.
Congrats on a decent term, Addy.
