[CP] State of the Union (Day 2152)

Day 2,152, 14:37 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

THE MANDATE

On October 5th, a majority of eCanadian voters provided me with a mandate to build an eCanada of vision, passion, and purpose. I have an outstanding team of people to help me achieve this:

Vice-President, Rylde
Vice-President, Acacia Mason
Minister of Defence, klop123
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shoi12
Minister of Finance, Bryan Alexander.

STATE OF THE UNION

Opening Remarks

Well, I'm already behind my three day commitment for communication, and I'm pretty surprised how quiet the media has been. I figured I'd release an update before I became the topic of conversation.

On the occupation of eNetherlands...

eNetherlands has been facing wipe for some time. The launched an Air Strike on us to escape their enemy, ePoland, and secure a piece of eRep to call their own so they can sustain a congress and manage citizenship. That piece of eRep was eCan's Northwest Territories, and its appropriate because eCan relates to dealing with the frustrations of a wipe.

eNL would like to hold more regions, but they don't want to open a border with ePoland, so they can't expand from Northwest Territory. Furthermore, our congress has not authorized any further occupation of eCanada territory. They have not denied the request either, this just isn't in the best interests of eNL at the time.

At the moment, there is a motion before congress to enter into a rental agreement with eNL for a term of six months. I expect it to pass as the mood is favourable and empathetic here.

So I welcome our new neighbours, eNL, and invite each eCanadian citizen to fight for eNL in any RWs started in Northwest Territory because that region is home to eNL.

I invite all citizens of eNL to give a big thank-you to Rylde and Muglack who are particularly partial to this region, they have won many congress medals in this region in the past and I am sure it pains them a bit to see eCan voluntarily surrender this region.

On citizenship approvals...

Turns out my gray hair is showing. Immigration is no longer governed by any legislation on the eCan forum, despite my archiac understanding otherwise heading into this issue. There is no way for me to champion, or sabotage, the citizenship approval of any applicant. The closest way to "managing" this is at the PP level where PP's would prioritize congress candidates based on who is going to comply with their party policy on immigration. As a result, my motions regarding expediting citizenship for Marines has been withdrawn, as has the one regarding eUS citizens at large.

Now, there is something I can do. I can update you on who can get you citizenship if you want it. According to my records, these congressmen have passes left and the number of passes they have left is in parentheses:

Lordjas (2), Joseph Quimby (2), Punisher 1389 (2), Foxfire (1), Dr .Manhattan (1), Dinpet (2), Clausru (2), Muglack (1), Rolo Tahmasee (2), Code-Y (2), Mr. A. Smith (1), HazmatNukeHaxOr (1), Manson Tai (2), TheSmoke (1), Gunn165 (2), chriswen (2), ErickLeRouge (2), Lord Penguin (2)

For the curious, here is the citizenship approval record since the most recent congress election:

On relations with CoT...

CoT has proven to be a very reasonable group. Supreme Commander potato134 has authorized eCanada's request for an exception under the charter so that we do not have to sign an MPP with each member:

: ecanada would like to request
: an exception per the charter
: we can't afford to MPP every nation
: ah yes
: thats fine
: we would like to MPP each nation at ware
: we dont expect every nation to be able to MPP every single nation in CoT

We are expected maintain MPPs with all CoT member nations with an open war.

CoT's stock went up in my books with this reasonable response.

On a budget...

Bryan Alexander has accepted my offer to be Minister of Finance.

Over the next four days, we will propose a budget to congress.

We plan to spend 100,000 on MPPs and Combat Orders.

On the Canadian Civil Defence MU...

A significant piece of legislation was passed by congress. It authorizes the government to fund Combat Orders that are issued by an official MU. The MU will be named Canadian Civil Defence MU. The MU Commander is to be the CP, MoD, or dMoD. Under the Act, only these individuals can execute the Combat Orders.

There have been some partisan bumps in the road going from passing the legislation to acting on the legislation, but I am confident that we can work through these things.

A political party raised funds to pay for the MU and donate it to the nation but there are concerns over appearances and these will be addressed by congress. (Notice how I didn't mention the party's name)

Closing Remarks and Shameless Plugs...

Still waiting for that impeachment attempt, I would say that my delay in an update has my stock falling, but I really don't seen any profound problems thus far.

Who's your daddy?
