[CP] Hurricane Poland

Day 1,745, 10:34 Published in Canada Canada by Jacobi

Like a tropical storm that only the Maritimes see, Hurricane Poland is receding from our shores off to batter the coast of another of our allies. A storm that started in Germany, and moved to France, crashed onto Newfoundland a week ago. Now it moves to the Azores and from there God knows.

There is no deal. There is no guarantee that once they are done with Portugal(and perhaps Ireland) that they won’t come back and finish the job. At present, there is no deal to release our provinces and while I can (and have) requested some slack from the Polish President he is under no compunction to agree and I have nothing I’m willing to offer him to do so besides the good faith and communication that’s been given throughout this entire situation.

We are not wiped because Poland had no reason to do so and we wisely gave them no reason to change their minds. Poland is holding our regions now, but will find it progressively harder to do so with Portuguese, French, Dutch, and German RWs going on at the same time. I certainly do not doubt their capacity to withstand two or even three RWs, but like Nova Scotia some will slip through the cracks while we keep hammering at the wall.

Since there isn’t a strategic or tactical reason to hold a Canadian province besides NFLD at the moment, I am hoping Poland just lets us have our regions back but I alone cannot control those who two-click and as you can imagine, I am not in the Polish President’s strategic circle. Regardless, we have surrendered nothing, Poland has asked for nothing tangible (just that which we’ve already done), so let’s continue shaking the tree until the apples fall, shall we?

Or we can hit the tree...trees can suck it.

The survey results were useful, I think Congress is digesting what was said now, Stamkoze won the 5 gold but I’ve yet to be able to give it to him. Forty Nine of the Seventy Seven people who responded said they wanted me to run again, with only seven saying that I should not, so thank you for that. With ElPatoDiablo and Wally Cleaver in the race, however, I think I will spend my September in a supporting position rather than as CP. Whomever is elected I will be glad to work for in whatever capacity they find suits my skills, and I will otherwise continue to comment in the media and on the forums for the type of Canada that I hope will rise from what has happened this month.

We have together weathered a storm that didn’t require thousands of dollars spent from anybody’s MasterCard. Though it might take a few weeks to get everything back on track, we are at the end of the day a country of 1600, attacked by a country of 10000, and we will emerge from it all the better for it.

And I am extremely happy Congress has (mostly) reversed the tax change from a week ago. Now Congress still has to decide how they want to proceed, and to what extent the government should be funding MUs and indeed, for what. Lots of fun debates to end the term with. But hey! We’re just getting started!
