[CP] Battle of the Alliances - Update

Day 1,739, 08:28 Published in Pakistan Pakistan by Kutluk Bilge Kul Ishamael

Greetings ePakistanis,

This article is meant to update you on the recent Battle of Alliances competition announced by eRepublik. As you would probably know, in my previous article, I along with leaders of 32 other countries professed to join the Fraternal Union of Countries and Kingdoms – Unofficial. This new alliance was meant to be the perfect alliance which would have easily won the competition and the bragging rights. However, it seems that our dear friend, Plato, had other plans.

Yesterday, all CPs were mailed that all alliance members would end up having MPPs with eachother for a month. Basically, this looked great and would have saved a lot of cash for many countries as each MPP costs 10k per country per side.

Later on, after inquiries by several CPs, it was figured out that all alliances would be automatically done and would last for a month.
This was a major screw in the works for our old alliance which many countries were a part of. We were looking at serious events and shredding of MPP stacks upon the slightest instance of war by several countries. Basically, the old alliance which many countries were a part of, was no longer acceptable and workable.

This was obviously not acceptable for the countries at large, because any attack by aggressive nation, would have caused a major shredding of its MPP stack. Therefore, most of last night was spent reorganizing the alliances and working out deals to best protect our countries and their interests. I personally was up till 4 am discussing and dealing to better secure Pakistan's future.

Pakistan’s Case

Pakistan was a unique case in this alliance. As many of you are aware, we cannot MPP Poland, Hungary, Indonesia and Macedonia because of our NAP terms with China. Because of the new rule introduced by Plato which would have auto MPPd us, we couldn’t join an alliance with these countries in it, and had to stay friendly with our old friends at the same time.

The options that we had are as follows

Friendship Over Everything (FOE)
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Montenegro, New Zealand, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Macedonia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Venezuela

Most of our bros are friends are in this alliance for the competition, but we could not join this alliance because an auto MPP with Indonesia and Macedonia would have broken the NAP terms with China.

4FUN
Brazil, Hungary, Spain, Poland, USA

This alliance was formed less than 10 hours before the close of deadline for submitting the nominations. We were invited to it by the Poles, but once again, the NAP with China does not allow us to MPP either Hungary or Poland so we had to stay out of this one.

CoT (Circle of Trust)
Chile, Mexico, Republic of Moldova

Not to be confused with CoT (which is much larger ingame but has members divided between FOE and this one). Joining this would have meant a cancellation of our MPP with the USA as they are at war with Mexico and game mechanics would have cancelled our mutual MPP with them as soon as the auto MPP with Mexico got accepted.

Fraternal Union of Countries and Kingdoms – Unofficial
Australia, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Slovakia, South Africa, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uruguay

What started as one of the largest groups ended up as one of the smaller ones, with most TERRA nations along with a stray ONE country or two who simply forgot to change nominations because of the auto MPP rule. This was also not in our best interests because of the presence of certain countries which would have probably not gone down well with our bros and allies. MPPing France and Germany would not have gone down well with Poland, for example, and our brothers in Oceania wouldn't have looked too kindly at an alliance with Australia by Pakistan.

Pakistan’s decision

As the Executive of this country, I decided that it is in our best interests to stay out of this competition.

As Pakistan is no longer a member of an “official alliance”, our diplomacy is complicated, and we have to do a balancing act to act in our best interests in Foreign Affairs. The blanket MPP rule which would have caused auto MPPs, would have wreaked havoc both internationally and domestically for Pakistan.

Several other countries with complicated alliance structures such as Russia are also staying out of this competition. At the end of the day, we could have easily gone for a hollow victory in a one week competition, only to screw up our relations with our allies and our neighbours. We chose the alternative –the continuation of a sensible foreign policy for Pakistan.
