[CN] Bulgaria, Turkey - a Possible Solution

Day 1,556, 09:59 Published in China China by mihail.cazacu

At the moment I write this article the "Mexican Standoff" between Bulgaria and Turkey seems to be over.

The Turkish Congress made the first step by not answering with another NE law to the last Bulgarian NE proposal.

Boyan, the ex-member of EDEN HQ and a Congressman in Bulgaria, came with yet another NE proposal against Turkey. Since Boyan was known to the among the Bulgarians in favor of good relations between his country and Turkey, many were taken by surprise by his last move.

Once everything is over, I believe Boyan himself would explain the reason for it. For now it suffice to say that his actions are actually meant to help reaching a mutually beneficial agreement between Bulgaria and Turkey, without having any war. Those among my readers who like detective stories could try to find out for themselves how can this be done, before Boyan publishes his article.

So for now we can consider the crisis pretty much over, but the essence of the problem still persists.

More to the point:

1) Those who try hard to start a war between Bulgaria and Turkey will keep using the following lines:

- "Bulgaria doesn't have access to the resources of Iran, even though Turkey has those regions in duplicate and could easily give them up"

- "Turkey is blackmailing us to sign an MPP with them in exchange for those resources"

- "Turkey is blackmailing us to accept them in EDEN in exchange for those resources"

- "If Bulgaria cannot attack Turkey, Bulgaria is condemned to fight boring wars with Serbia and FYROM" (This one is particularly amusing for me, a Romanian who, just like the majority of the players in Romania, got bored to death by the last 1001 Hungarian-Romanian wars. All started by Hungary, without exception. Good luck to you guys if you believe the Bulgarian-Turkish Wars you so desire would be any different!)

2) The best way to counter the 4 reasons above is to avoid any logical explanations, because logic doesn't help much. The best way is to go directly at the roots of the problem and eliminate them:

- Turkey doesn't really need those regions so getting rid of them simply eliminates one reason the warmongers use;

- Turkey doesn't really need a MPP with Bulgaria as long as she has the other TEDEN MPPs. So there is little sense in insisting on that point, which only feeds the warmongers;

- Turkey can enjoy the benefits of an EDEN member even if it is not formally part of the alliance for now. EDEN and Terra's enemies are also Turkey's enemies and Turkey's friends are EDEN & Terra friends. It is therefore impossible for EDEN, Terra or Turkey to disagree on foreign policy or to attack the friends of the other side. A conflict similar to the Spain - Argentine war is missing from the Turkey + EDEN + Terra equation. Therefore is an act of wisdom to eliminate the third motive the warmongers use;

- If Bulgaria receives the regions of Mazandaran and Golistan, Razavi Khorasan, South Khorasan, Sistan and Balouchistan (regions Turkey doesn't need at all) then Bulgaria can easily have a truly interesting campaign in South East Asia, going after Indonesia. Not only Indonesia, the "eternal virgin"* would be "deflowered" also by Bulgaria, but the warmongers would be proven wrong once more: Bulgaria can have Turkey as a friend and still have interesting campaigns.

3) Soon Poland will have a common border with Turkey. Up until now we've only talked about avoiding boredom for Bulgaria. But the average Turkish players would soon get bored fighting in the Iranian and Arabian RWs. If the tensions between Bulgaria and Turkey disappear, Turkey will have an interesting war with Poland. Bulgaria had lots of fun crossing Ukraine and invading Poland. Turkey could do the same thing. Gladly.

My bet is that if Turkey continues on the path of wisdom, the warmongers form Bulgaria would lose all the influence they had until now. My best indirect proof would be to look at who would troll this article, swearing eternal revenge on the "Ottoman Oppressors".

So congratulations both to the wise Bulgarian and Turkish Congressmen for their skill of avoiding a disaster and let's see some steps forward!

* Indonesia is the "Eternal Virgin" since the time they refused to let their ally Serbia cross their territory to Australia (yes, that's how allies cooperated in PEACE, Phoenix and ONE). Why did they refuse? Because "the Indonesian territory is virgin" and they liked to keep it that way.

Since then the Indonesian "Eternal Virgin" got "deflowered" several times, last time today, by China. An eternal virgin is a true miracle, so I think it is fair also for Bulgaria to enjoy.
