United Kingdom, accidentally determining alliance relations since 2016

A young man stumbled through the door into a large room dominated by an old wooden table made of oak, upon which were laid maps after maps detailing the current advances of Pacifican and British forces.
"Sir, Sir!" he managed to utter with a baited breath, "Britain has joined Orion".
The looks on the face of the men circled around the table varied from shock to amusement to concentration, probably a result of calculating further moves and scenarios ahead to determine the best approach for the wholly changed situation.

Sometimes a modest move in the chessboard leads to a total overhaul of the game. Such was the case when United Kingdom managed to join Orion amidst the Pacifican invasion on the isles on December 2016. The move meant that, suddenly, Pacifica was in a war with a pair of alliances with superior damage, coordination and size, with Orion and Asteria.

We all know how it went, and what happened after it during the spring of 2017. I have written about it, as have many others. In essence, Pacifica moved closer towards Asteria to prevent the miscalculation from happening again. And so far it had worked.

In a way, history repeated itself during the autumn of 2017. Pacifica again invaded Britain, though this time it was not the aggressor. UK launched the first NE on Pacifica, to which the Pacifican response was merciless. Even the context was eerily similar: back in 2016 UK had borderline no one to back them up sufficiently before joining Orion. Now in 2017 UK, strangely, picked a timing of NE during which the whole of ProAsteria was busy in South America, which effectively meant that regardless of UK's nominal attachment to Orion and ProAsteria, everyone was too busy to help them.

As a cherry on top of the cake, recently UK proposed a law to leave the Orion alliance, something which looks like it is passing. I don't believe UK thought back in 2016 the magnitude of effects their move had. I don't also think UK though similar concerns right now, as it looks they didn't really debate it all that much.

UK is again in a war with Pacifica (for a minute). UK is again without an alliance. Pacifica would have never gone this close to Asteria without UK's moves back in 2016.

The movement that started the current alliance development has gone a full circle, ladies and gentlemen. It's almost poetic.

Thank you, dear Britons o/
