The Maze

So essentially I have to now tell you guys how I believe there to be a game within the game. That's right, Plato designed a game within eRepublik that many people do not see. Although this is a game that everyone is a part of as well.

But if wanted to take this seriously, what would the game within the game look like? Essentially what you're looking for is some Westworld-esque maze existing under the surface, if anyone happens to watch that show. Much like Westworld, each player assumes a certain role in the game according to their desires, and there is arguably not much limit in creating your persona. One could argue that the social interactions that occur on discord or the forums as a game within a game, or a game outside of the game, but I don't necessarily think Plato had that in mind. We could talk about how players prefer certain aspects of the game more than others, but that's a part of the game rather than some hidden layer. Maybe supreme government access or international position is the secret? But I've been there and I can tell you it isn't.

So where's the maze? One could argue that the maze is the pursuit of someone to find the ultimate goal of the game, or that finding the center gives us access to freedom. Perhaps the game within the game is determining when you're content with what you have or what you have done. It seems we are always unfulfilled with the game. Your definition of what encompasses the center of the maze is up to individual interpretation, so there are several different games within this game. It just depends on who you are.

Another game is only accessible to those who follow the articles of fingerguns. Feel free to read any and all stories about the Wheel here.
