The Libertarian Party: A New Vision For Victory

Day 554, 07:21 Published in USA USA by Nick Everdale

Fellow Libertarians,

No one can say Libertarians didn't get pummeled in the May 25th elections. Some of this had to do with moving voters to Spain in an attempt to stop a PEACE takeover, but we cannot blame our failure to turn out the vote on our assistance to Spain.

In my home state of Virginia, Libertarian Congressman Sabotage75 was swamped by the USWP's Dmalicious. USWP operated an effective voter contact system, sending out nearly 500 messages to Virginia "two-click" voters using mass mail techniques supported by the party. They moved voters from states where they had certain victories to states where their challengers could topple weak incumbents.

Most of all, they communicated.

New Jersey went Libertarian by over 100 votes, yet in Virginia and other states Libertarians lost by margins as small as three votes. We knew Claire would take New Jersey handily - why did we not send those voters to support our ailing candidates in other states? It is entirely likely we could have picked up seats in Congress had we adopted this strategy.

The Libertarian Party is at risk of losing its status as a major party. Federalists who grasped the effective communication and get-out-the-vote methods of USWP staged an impressive rally, and threaten to - beyond belief - surpass the Libertarians in the next election.

I announced my candidacy in Virginia one day after elections. I have 29 days in which I pledged to personally contact every Virginia citizen at least once by PM. But we can do more. The party should support providing moving tickets to Libertarians in "safe" states, as well as support the mass-communication message by helping candidates contact voters. Libertarian candidate articles should be voted up - that's 250 votes for a candidate's news story using just New Jersey Libertarians!

We can win this, fellow Libertarians, but it's going to take a new vision for our party.
