The Battle of Alberta - A Soldiers Story

Day 615, 16:24 Published in Canada Canada by Rolo Tahmasee

The day started out as good as any. We got word that our elections had successfully defended against a PTO by PEACE and we anxiously awaited the days orders

Then the news that we all knew was coming was upon us. Our enemies had attacked Alberta. One of the last outposts of eCanada. The orders were to defend and defend at all costs, and defend we did. By mid-day the news looks promising. Our unit had finished it's patrol and we had returned to our base camp to await further instruction. There were a few hours left in the fight but we were rest assured that the fight was in good hands, but we remained ready should we be needed

With just over an hour left in the fight, news came from the front. PEACE had attacked the capitol with heavy fire and our unit quickly mobilized on the ready. We were unable to communicate as we were under an apparent communications blackout with our command, but we knew if we headed in the direction of the fighting, we would find the CAF and join the fight along side them. At one point as we headed to the battlefield we thought we had gotten lost. We hadn't found the CAF, just other civilian soldiers fighting with handguns, rifles, bayonettes and bare hands, taking on massive PEACE armies.

It was at this point in the battle something amazing happened. I yelled out for weapons as did some of my fellow soldiers and out of nowhere, donations of weapons and health from strangers, some even in other countries came pouring in to help us with the fight. It was at this point that a memory that I will never forget took place. A young boy, too young to fight, left the safety of his house and ran towards me out on the street. He had something in his hand, A piggy bank which he smashed at my feet. In it was 6 dollars. He said to me "This is all I have, use it to buy a weapon. Your fight is better than mine. Use it to drive these monsters away from me and my family" I did buy that weapon and used it to inflict an 84 damage on the enemy.

As the clocked ticked closer to midnight pacific time and a trip to the medic restored health to us, I found another soldier and we waited together with our remaining weapons and health for the CAF and the Tanks to arrive. As we waited to join them in the battles last stand he said to me "The CAF can send in the tanks anytime now", I said to him "I fear there are no tanks"

The last thing I remember before watching the Canadian Flag burned in front of the capitol building was a scene I wish I could forget. Moments before the enemy stormed the gates, a military chopper flew in to pick up Jacobi. Apparently he had a wedding to go to and had to leave. As the helicopter took off, a soldier under heavy enemy fire ran towards the chopper as it was his only escape. It was a scene reminiscent of "Platoon" and as the chopper flew away, the soldier was shot down much like Willam Dafoe's character Elias was. The scene played out exactly as such

I'm not sure at this point if I am a disillusioned soldier. I follow the orders given to me by my superiors and I along with my Comrades, My Brothers in Arms who have sacrificed our Wealth, our Health and our Spirit in defense of this country, I can't help but I sit here and wonder......

Are We A Leaderless Army, Or a Leaderless Country???
