Tanks Banned, Quitting

Amid accusations of more bugged or “fake” gold being offered by the Spanish government, prominent ATLANTIS tanks and associated organizations have been banned by the admins.
Permabans:
Thai Dragon
Wlodek
Tempbans:
sato
tuput
Org Temp Bans:
Despensa Imperial
Esercito eItaliano
Sanedrin Imperial*
Soimii Patriei
While Spanish tanks were the first to fall, it now appears that this fake gold played a role in both sides' tanking, to various degrees (the asterisked org is Italian). More bans are likely to be handed out, according to admin Cristi Badea:
“Until the investigations are over regarding this issue, there will be several other temporary bans. If in the future citizens that have received temporary bans and forfeit points, will prove to have no involvement in this case, all forfeit points will be deleted. It's not an act of craziness from the admins…it's just a precaution measure taken in order to avoid future transactions and actions involving Gold obtained through illegall i]sic[/i methods.”
However, PEACE and ATLANTIS were not the only alliances to suffer following the epic battle of Sardinia. darkplayer82, a Theocrat and the top ranked player in eRepublik, has decided to leave eRepublik, because “I'm tired of seeing TO, swap-war, rude people, this is shameful. No strict rules, new implementations that are not made, new states are created and then robbed by the take-over…I lost the desire to play in these conditions.” As an adversary and a warrior, I respected darkplayer82 and he will be missed.

maybe now Peace will shut up about the Admin all being pro-Atlantis...
@Orbit-Fish: let's first see the end of it.
For instance, look at this: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/durruti-the-alchemist-vote--780990/1/20
6 months, and the guy is still here.
darkplayer was not quit, or if he was, then someone took his account. I saw him hitting the wall of Sardinia yesterday, well after he wrote his article of quitting
don't believe to darkplayer.
Regardless he is right. The Admins create these new countries so they can be robbed. It is ridiculous that they ban for these unfair means of gaining money but yet no bans are handed out for theft.
A dark day was yesteday :/ Both alliances showed some of their real colors powering them and it's sick how both alliances really work and want to win.
My only question is (and it's probably impossible to acquire a true answer, but) did the tanks who were banned even know the gold was fake? Did the admins really have any way to evaluate that, other than a player professing not to have known?
In the unlikely-to-ever-occur situation that my country ever wanted me to tank for them, I wouldn't really question the supplies they gave me with which to nobly protect said country, that simply makes a tank involved but not directly responsible for committing an illegal act. I see no crime in that, unless of course the tanks were knowledgeable of said fact. But it bothers me that the admins might go banhappy on people who may not have knowingly committed a "crime", as it were.
It certainly does make one reconsider the notion of blindly accepting any free gold.
@Chisholm: Yes, its terrible that people want to win when playing a game.
But honestly, its a shame that the Admins have such a double standard. They ban people for abusing "bugs" to get gold, but then look the other way from a blantant flaw in the system (new countries being robbed).
adding new countries is like shark feeding... lots of money without any protection, its not just looking the other way... its like pushing a child into the arms of freddy krueger 🙂
but implementing citizenship would require some heavy lifting, and without that there is no other way to add a country to the game...
I am not sure what the bugs are, but typical using one is not considered a punishable offense on online games. Unless of course, it involves hacking.
I am a fairly new player, but I'm sad to say, the more I read the more I dislike. I feel like I'm moving along on a personal level in the Erepublik scheem of things. Only to ponder the question, "Where is this heading?" Sounds like the visit from Samuel L, is right on target, I am sad to say. Its funny really. ERepublik is mimicking the world to a tee. Maybe its sad...I don't know...
Here is what looks like over 3000 units of fake gold being used to help Romania recently. No wonder they had some success. We are fighting for these guys? Do our forces in Romania know about this?

Ban all tanks.
robbing the new countries isn't against the rules. While creating fake gold is, so there is a difference. Though it would probably help if we could stop both of them.
Perm ban!
The more bans that come from this, the better.
I don't believe that fake gold should be part of the tactics just because you think other people do it. It is certainly an achievement to reach Tank levels, but if other people are quitting because it undoes all of the manipulating and finagling work they've done to cheat, I say good riddance.
Don't ban all tanks, that's silly. But these tanks better have some serious holdings or direct Treasury connections if they're dropping lots of gold in a battle.
Remember a lot of these bans are only temporary, and the players will get forfeit points erased if they're found to have no involvement.
Seriously, the admin needs to fix the fake gold problem. They should let people get off a permanent ban if they tell how they got the gold.
I agree with Aerofluff, how do they know these guys helped hack the gold or knew it was faked? I think temp bans should be limited to people they know where part of the problem, not just users of what they were given. I'm sure if these 'outsiders' can fake gold, the admins can correct what has been done to some extent...Remove experience points that should not have been received...remove items bought with fake gold...remove excess gold...and put holds on undefinable items/gold until resolved. Perma and temp bans should be used only on people who are known for sure to have used exploits of the game. Permabans should be left as a last resort!
I could add much about the robbing of new countries and the need for bans for the real criminals here, but we'll save that for another day...for the sake of sounding long(er) winded.

w00h000 fake gold!
“I'm tired of seeing TO, swap-war, rude people"i cant believe it we have this well duh its just like real life
If you want TO'ing to stop, prove that it'll be unprofitable. Same goes for swap-wars. Rude people are natural, especially among the internet, just deal with it.
@ Ryan_5:
I've actually never played an online game where it was ok to take advantage of a bug in the game. For example EVE Online will often permaban people who use a bug instead of reporting it. They don't however punish the people who did legitimate business with the cheaters. Tanking may annoy some of us, but it is a legitimate tactic in this game, and is normally done without cheating.
I do understand why they've banned some accounts though. It's difficult to investigate money issues when accounts are still active. I consider most of the banned accounts to be on "investigative lockdown" which it seems will be assessed at the end of the investigation.
haha about time the admins did something
