Spanish Troops to Dine in Paris New Years Eve

Day 772, 15:04 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

2008 ended with the French completing a major counter offensive against a coalition of Atlantis nations including Spain, the U.S., the U.K., Canada and Sweden. After losing about half of their regions during the start of the invasion, the French were able to start to take their regions back one by one thanks to the help of their PEACE allies. The ending of 2008 was a time for celebration across France; however the end of 2009 won’t be as joyful since Paris has just fallen to Spanish forces. The old “Tonight we dine in Paris!” chant has finally been fulfilled, over a year after the original invasion. The new French capital is Provence Alpes Azur.

There has always been tension between the French and the Spanish as the two sides have engaged in three major direct wars. The first was with Spain invading France, then France invaded Spain and completely knocked them out for a while, and now Spain is storming through France. The latest war began way back in August however it wasn’t until Spain started to attack Southern France in early December that things began to heat up. Spain was able to take advantage of the fact that France didn’t have too many allies and without the help of most of the Phoenix powers the French slowly lost ground to the Spanish.

It now appears that France has learned from their earlier mistakes as they are now trying to sign MPPs with stronger nations in hopes of deterring the Spanish from advancing further into their country. Unfortunately for France their strategy of attaining more MPPs didn't quite work against the Spanish. Spain looked past these MPPs and launched an attack on Poitou Charentes. At this point in time the French are holding the Spanish back, still even if the Spanish lose this battle they can keep the initiate again both France and Italy by attacking multiple regions at once.

On the morning of the 31st Spain attacked the region of Lombardy, a high grain region with about 220 residents. Right now the battle is leaning towards the Italians who have the support of Russia and Indonesia via MPPs. Later on the 31st Spain launched another wave of attacks into Sardina, Italy and Poitou Charentes, France. It's too early to make predictions on how the battles will unfold but we can be sure that there will be plenty of fireworks in Europe this New Years.
