See you next fall

Day 1,845, 18:20 Published in Ireland Ireland by Ronan Donovan

Mr Donovan was up to his old tricks this week as he once more found himself in a very compromising and embarrassing position.

It all started as Ronan was about to make his way home from work. He strolled merrily down the street without a care in the world. His life was going fantastically well. He had eventually got over a number of extremely shameful and disturbing events which had been tough for several weeks. In recent times, things were really going his way and he was in jovial form.

As he came towards the end of the street he began to get a little more agitated. Something did not seem right at all! As he neared the corner and prepared to round the bend, he began to notice a number of unusual phenomena.

Firstly, the lights commenced flashing on and off in peculiar fashion. Then, the whole street went eerily silent and Ronan suddenly could no longer see any people around him.

But, what was most worrying of all was about to present itself to him. As he gingerly made his way around the corner of the two streets, Ronan stopped dead in his tracks in complete horror. To his utterly dazed confusion, it appeared that instead of a road, there was now a massive whole in the ground covering the entire street. A few metres away, Ronan could just about make out the other side, but he had no way to make it to the end of the street due to this obstacle.

At this stage he was terrified of falling in, so Ronan swiftly backed away until he was a safe distance back from the mysterious crater. He peered down but could not see the bottom at all. He looked around once more to see if he could get somebody's attention to share this oddity with. However, the streets were now curiously deserted.

Ronan took a few tentative steps forward and tried to figure out what could have caused this hole. After a long pause for thought, Ronan concluded that he knew of no reason why this would happen. But, it did happen and now his only route home was blocked off by this strange anomaly.

Unsure of what to do, Ronan stood impatiently on the verge of the gigantic abyss for several minutes.

Eventually, Ronan gave in to the inevitable and took the major decision to jump to the other side. He felt it wasn't that wide and with a bit of luck he should make it.

He slowly prepared himself and got psyched up for this challenge. As he limbered up, he felt nervous but still quite confident it would all work out. He took a few steps back and drew in a deep breath. A few moments later, he was in full flow, running rapidly towards the hole. He jumped and could feel the wind flow right past his body as he propelled himself towards the other side.

He was airborne for what seemed like an eternity. He closed his eyes and prayed that he'd be ok. At what seemed like halfway across, he opened his eyes and realised to his delight that he was actually going to make it!

However, he immediately began to lose altitude and his horizontal movement was diminishing enormously. Soon his body began to glide perrilessly toward the dark abyss. Ronan started to fall down and down deep into this black hole.

About a minute later, he hit the bottom with a big thud. His body was in agony and everything was dark. But now, he heard voices calling his name. They were familiar voices, but they did not seem happy.

Slowly, he turned his head and his eyes seemed to open up. A dazzling light fell on him and people gathered around. It seemed a lot like his office and it appeared that he was lying on the floor. A chair looked like it had fallen over beside him.

His employees were laughing and ridiculing him. As Ronan pulled himself to his feet, his whole body was in pain and he could barely move. He felt dizzy and disorientated.

"Wh-What's going on...?"

One employee quickly replie😛
"For jaysus sake! You were drinking too much again. You were dancing on the chair and fell off. Then you passed out and pissed yourself. You're a bloody disgrace!"

At that point, everybody laughed again. Ronan trudged off in shame to get a clean pair of pants and tend to his damaged ego.
