Picking a Resource Strategy
Aries Prime
New changes are incoming and I feel the need to post a basic strategy guide for Canada (and other interested countries) to vote on. Because of this I would prefer everyone that that reads this post a rank order preference list (1. 2. 3.) of the strategies they would prefer for Canada to employ. If this doesn’t work out then I’ll have to post a second article with a link to a website or straw poll site or something to do a more formal voting. Note that I’m coming up with these strategies as I go but there should be enough variety and common sense to make them viable (Even came up with some flashy names).
Gatherer
We try to gather the most common resources available with the most common at the core and least common on the sides. This method will be used to maximize likelihood of retaining regions while giving our stronger neighbors the option to only having to annex one of our side regions. This is a survival method purely for retaining regions. As the event goes on, we would reevaluate preferences based on the amount of resources remaining, holding to the most common resources possible. Essentially it is catering to stronger neighbors while still keeping regions for your ocuntry.
I would suggest this for weak, small countries in order to keep regions.
Raider
We pick up 3-4 resources in a specific area while placing all other regions on the most common resources. We place those main resources in the core of our country, for the most protection, while placing our more common ones on the outsides. This will give us a clear preference for a particular industry that we are trying to get full bonuses for while not making us too much of a target because we won’t have every resource for that industry. It will give us better production results in that industry and force us to look abroad for full bonuses that we would need. We could even setup a deal with neighboring countries to place resource we need on their land for us to take.
I suggest this for strong, but medium sized warlike countries. This is what I would prefer for Canada since we are quite aggressive and warlike.
Producer
We go all out gathering 5/5 resources on an industry in order to monopolize it. We would place those resources at the core of our nation while placing more common resources on the sides. This will give us everything we need right at the start but at the huge risk of invasion from other countries. There would be no need to invade other countries, but we would have to be constantly on alert for enemy attacks.
I would suggest this only for the strongest, largest countries.
Mixed
We gather 2 resources in every area and attempt to diversify as much as possible by gathering common and uncommon resources. Placement of resources won't matter as much since we will have a large variety of everything. There won’t be too much incentive to attack since it would require a lot of attacking to gain full resources in any industry while the need to defend will probably be the same since our resources won’t be too special in any particular area. This is the most basic and flexible strategy we could take that doesn’t require much thought.
I’d suggest this for countries that have no idea what to do. Those that are well off and good sized, but don’t have a preference for the other strategies.
Rank Order Preferences
Please vote according to the following example:
1. Raider
2. Mixed
3. Producer
4. Gatherer
With Raider being the most preferred and Gatherer being the least preferred in this example.
Upcoming Election
This upcoming election will be the most important election ever. We will need to vote someone both trusted and smart enough to make the right bonus decisions for our country. Because of that it is imperative that we make the right decision. I am happy to run or someone else that is both smart and trusted can run, but we need to start talking about this now.
Have fun strategizing,
Aries Prime

Producer!
Don't be a pussy, let's get weapon bonuses.
For once I agree with ^
We have enough regions to do 1 & 3. I would want 10/10 of weapons and food, the remainder in house.
good paper o/
Good luck from france o7
I'll have a number 2 and a number 4 please.
1. Raider
2. Mixed
3. Producer
4. Gatherer
Take distance as emphasis on my vote.

Also, I might just run again. Arguably with you as my MoRM.
Minister of Resource Management of course.

There's a huge elephant just south of the room however - the eUSA has enough regions in their core to go for a large slice of the 15/15 (they may even get all 15). The countries that think themselves powerful will go for the rarest elements first. eUSA is the only one that has the strength and ego, and the raw number of regions, to natively get 15/15. This will make them a very attractive invasion target in the future.
We have a relatively large number of regions for our population, which puts us in a precarious position, so here's my take:
We only have 3 days to earn points. At most, we can earn six resources (3 successful RWs against both Croatia and Macedonia).
You do not under any circumstances want to be the weakest nation that holds a rare element. So first of all, avoid all housing (or take Sand). Avoid Rubber, unless Sand is the only alternative. Avoid Deer, unless Rubber and Sand are the only alternatives. If we're forced to take any of those, stick them in BC or NFD. Those three are the keys to 15/15, and the weakest nation that holds any of those will not hold them for any significant length of time - they will either be rented peacefully or occupied indefinitely. The absolute first priority has to be to change away from any of these which are assigned by default to us.
The second priority is to avoid and change away from any other Housing industry resources except Sand. That industry is the scarcest in the world, and we want it nowhere near us.
What to change to? Take the top two to three Food and Weapon resources (ignore Fish, we already have that and cannot change it). Fruit, Cattle, Iron, Aluminum, Oil, maybe Grain (but as noted, we'll get 6 at max...) That'll give us a decent bonus for both food and weapons, without making us a huge target.
IMO we should be talking to the US and Ireland while worrying about the UK. Despite alliances we are stuck with our neighbors.
Aint worth us holding one of your regions...
Hi WK,
Normally you would be correct but we both know there are idiots on both sides that do stupid crap all the time.
Nah, we've bankrupted you and played our part in wiping you. I think most eUkers are happy to let you rebuild before we give you another kicking...
Any good articles out there summarizing the basics? I don't quite follow it all yet, but I've got a feeling we're going to end up being occupied by our old Bros.

This option seems like a good starting point...
My only question to it is: Will will be able to defend those core regions, when someone comes a knocking?
Given the assumption that we don't make ourselves much of a target using this strategy, we must also agree that there is a probability of attack. (Especially given our current state).
Just a thought.
I was against the update anyways, but I knew the admins wouldn't listen when they first broadcasted it.
Anyways, since the change is inevitable and the admins can pretty much do as they please.
Here's the order I choose.

Ranked in order.

this just fly above my head , thanks for posting this though appreciate it, are they changing erebuglik again? blame it on the jin

Then we all grow mohawks and wear leather, spikes, hockey masks and bits of tires.
For the record, it might be slightly more clear if the options were detailed in the same order that they are listed for the vote.
Clearly no one understands what rank order preference means nor understood the example so I just gave up.
Hm, yes, I had to re-read it.
In this case, the "example" appears to be the order of the items you wish us to rank according to preference. This is how we do it on the forums with multiple choice votes, so the mistake is perhaps understandable.
I blame the public school systems that taught me and apparently everyone else to "skim."
For the sake of clarity, I prefer Raider to all other options. Because mohawks.
