Parliamentary questions: Foreign Affairs and Defense

Day 2,766, 00:18 Published in Netherlands Germany by BaronVanZon

The big vote whether to join Nebula is all in the news at the moment. There are strong voices against, as there are strong voices pro.Time for Het Parool to question our Cabinet on Foreign Affairs and Defense.

Gentlemen, we have recently signed some MPPs. How does these influence our current foreign affairs and defense? I can imagine especially the MPP with Argentina does not stand well with allies such as Belgium and the UK?

Willem The Conqueror:
We've signed one MPP very recently, and that was indeed Argentina. I do not want to call it a major shift in our Foreign Affairs policies instantly, but it has some influence on things, of course. On the part of your question which considers Belgium and the UK, we had some little talks with them, our president did with the UK, and I talked about it with Franckie18 (Belgian MoFA). Both countries understood that we wanted to defend ourselves a little more from outside threats, and that we are using the Argentinian MPP to achieve that goal.

Walhallah:
Sometimes when two of your friends start to fight, you have to find a way to help them both. And that is usually not by helping the one stomp the other. There will also be other situations when there are choices to be made. A bit like when eGermany jumped on us, there wasnt much help from eBelgium (had their own problems), eUK (friends eGermany as well) or eUSA (busy with their Asian campaigns). Thats simply a fact of life.

If there is a yes-vote for joining Nebula, how will this change our alliances? We will after all abandon our status of neutrality.

Walhallah:
We are not a neutral country in my book. If we join, there will be a small shift in our focus, but essentially not a big one.

Willem The Conqueror:
As said earlier by the current government, if we join the Nebula alliance, we will try to stay in good contact with old allies (e.g. UK, Belgium), whilst also move a bit forward with our current foreign affairs policies by improving relations with Nebula countries and Nebula related countries. That's how, joining Nebula will change our foreign affairs.

How is our current relationship with Germany? Have there been any talks after the war ended?

Willem The Conqueror:
Since the war ended, we haven't really had any communication with our eastern neighbours, this basically describes our current relationship with them.

Walhallah:
My Ministry is not involved in that. We are focussing on the defense of our regions, and those of our friends. From what I see in our media, the Germans are showing an increased interest in our media. We are also becoming a constant factor in their media. I assume that is a good thing. Who knows where that might lead.

To end, something that struck me as od😛 how can we have an MPP with Argentina, yet put out DO's against them?

Walhallah:
This is a temporary situation because our prio's list got outdated, in the recent quickly changing events. With the current situation where two friends are duking it out, that can lead to DO's being picked. Reparative measures have been taking. The civil servant involved has been questioned about the situation.

Thank your for your insights, gentlemen.

Signed,

Quick-note: I refuse to put out bikini-babes (not that there is anything wrong with them) to get my comments needed for the quests. It is, perhaps naively so, belief it can be achieved with proper journalism as well, even in a small country as The Netherlands. So if you like this article and the newspaper as a whole, feel free to comment. Thank you
