Join the new world

The column “Parliament News” has been in winter hibernating, but now it`s spring (so they say) and it`s awakening again! Here are a short summary from the last months political life. It has been a very active parliamentary month, intense in fact, discussions about a lot of economical issues like taxes, eNorwegian Development Fund, subsidies and so on!

It has also been released eRepublik Cities update, which maybe has changed some conditions in our economical life. But first of all, some comments about the last congress-election:

Results of congress election May 2017:

Teknokratene: 37,5% (+ 0,7)

Analyzing the election:

As usual we did have an extensive and entertaining election campaign (just kidding, the surface of The Moon, on a early Sunday morning, are more turmoiling than eNorwegian election campaigns!). But despite this, this election brought us large relocations of voters between the parties this time. It has been a lot of surprises, and I don’t have very good explanations to give, why it happens?

The biggest surprise is Kvakksangerne, which has doubled its electorate since last month! Their most visible member has been hans erik as Governor and boss of the economy. But economy has never been a winner issue in the opinion? Or, may be I`am wrong?

And the sacrificing parties is Partiet, but mostly the NGP, which has not been rewarded by capturing integer as their CP-candidate earlier this May. Cpresident integer has been very visible in his first weeks as CP, and also PP Joshua has made several political initiatives, such as tax debate and Airforce Program. But they have not get any electoral gain of it, they are simply affected by the law of gravity, down in the valley at the moment, as they were last month too. But they are not as far down in the abyss as our smallest party. Compared to Liber8, NGP is still breathing, and they do have the largest amount of members. That counts a lot!

Teknokratene is still the largest party. MdR shows his presence as Prime Minister by administrating the Training Wars. And since TW`s at the moment is the most popular activity in eNorway, Teknokratene seems to profit from their PP and "leader of activity".

Since congres members is public servants I, above, did present all the parties candidates in this election, and whose of them to get the election. We do have a limited numbers of seats and I want to visualize that we do have competition to these seats! So for all of you who gets a seat I said Good Luck. And for those who did`nt, I said Good Luck to you too. The competition will be contiued next time, you all candidates will be needed.

And political competition is good, that encourage activity both inside the parties and in Public life. And that`s good for us all, because it shows a society that thrives! So be active!

CONCLUDED DEBATES:

Q1 House /May eNorwegian Development Fund debate:

I merge this together as it begins with Joshuas initiative to start a dream house lottery, and the debate developed on how to get eNorwegian more interesting and active towards Q1 House concept. Most because many of us eNorwegians don’t practise this opportunity. Minister of Education made some lessons, learning the commons the benefits of it.

Then CP integer launched a proposal of giving subsidize to help players with Q1 House, I`ll here to refer the main point of the proposal:

Integers`s proposal:

“1) Directly subsidize 100% of the purchase price for Q1 houses bought on the eNorwegian market


This proposal should accomplish the following:

1) Increase Work Tax revenue without raising taxes because more work means more Work Tax revenue
2) Provide greater incentives for Q1 house producers to produce houses due to greater Q1 house demand
3) Make eNorwegians wealthier by increasing their income”


Conclusion:
The proposal accepted unanimous.
(The Governor, hans erik, states around ten persons has been given subsidies)

Tax overhaul debate:

Joshua (NGP) invited to a debate on taxes and delivered some proposals of increasing different taxes. It will be to technical to give all the details about the taxes and debate. I will therefore only refer the proposals and the conclusion here.


#1 [Work Tax] Joshua`s proposal: Increase to 3%
#2 [Food VAT] Joshua`s proposal: Increase to 3%
#3 [Weapons VAT] Joshua`s proposal: Increase to 2%
#4 [Houses VAT] Joshua`s proposal: Increase from 1% to 2%


The debate conclude, there was no plurality to change any of the taxes. After the debate, Joshua the proposer, gave this statement:

“I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this discussion. It was nice to see an active and respectful Congress debate amongst colleagues. I believe after seeing everyones opinions thus far it is clear that none of my proposals will get the needed support to pass into law. But perhaps more importantly, it was some of your arguments which made me see the proposals in a different light and made me realize that perhaps they are not best for a small economy such as ours.
So with that, I would like to once again thank everyone, but I will not be moving any of these proposals to an official vote as I now don't believe that this is what Norway needs at this time.”


Conclusion:
No changes in taxes!





Gold in exchange for 1st holding company - debate

This is perhaps the most detailed and verbose debate so far this year. I shall not do all the details in this column. But it started with a proposal from Cpresident integer: Short version:


Integer`s proposal:

“I propose we offer 25 gold to anyone who will place a holding company in eNorway. (This sum effectivelly makes their next holding free to them, since it will cost 25 gold per the formula above.) In doing so, any job that player posts for any company they own, anywhere in the eworld, at any time in the future, will also appear on the eNorwegian job market.”


Some of highligths and different views from the debate (I have to mention: Joshua didn’t reach the debate before voting, but taking his views to show the different angles of the issues):


Xibbard (TeK):
“Agreed, It's an investment for the future. Since every 25G will be voted on i see no problem of overspending. All I want is that the money will be used for it's goal, I don't want someome running off with 25G, That is my concern.”


Joshua (NGP):
“…..So how can we justify handing over 12,500 to one player when it will take about 25 weeks alone to make that much back on VAT? Because unless people are selling their products on our markets and we are collecting those taxes than this will not be financially successful for us at all. It is not likely many of those people would ever make our state any profits.”


Land Surveyor (NGP):
“…To be fair joshua, you make many good points. BUT many of them isnt of my concern because congress will be voting on each individual applicant. the money side of things, would mean less if the other proposal from int passes, more holdings in norway = more taxes, so it would be an investment for the future. I also dont think the "richest players would care that mutch about getting 25 gold to move their hodling, if they move it they would just move it and dont think about it”


The conclusion:
The proposal was accepted against one vote!
