O

Day 1,174, 20:46 Published in Ireland Ireland by The Irish William Wallace

his words set minds ablaze
with harsh truth and a cunning tongue
he awed crowds with his visionary gaze

he spoke of love and care
but he was broken and beaten
went through obstacles no one could bare

out of darkness, his light had risen
people heard his thoughts
and burnt down his mental prison

his kingdom was his soul
and his followers long gone
time has taken its toll

one day in late November
his longing soul died
we all remember

his soul is still sought
but abandon the search
he will be with you in your thoughts
beyond.

every century has a stupid war
all these countries hungry for gore
but when the body washes up ashore
I ask, what are we fighting for?

we don't see the bombs dropped on the innocent
nor do we try to acknowledge it
the bodies dropped in the slaughter pit
you can either deny, ignore, or submit
but what are we fighting for?

what are we fighting for?

I work minimum wage, hardly get paid
my neck's under the corporation's blade
I go buy oil, thanks to world trade
I am sponsoring a middle-eastern air raid
but I don't see the bombs being dropped

do you see the millions, the children dying
the blood, slaughter, and televisions lying
I can only imagine all the homeless children crying
how can we even start trying

what are we fighting for?

the soldier comes home a man
with the hundreds of souls from Afghanistan
what nation is next, how about Iran?
I ask myself, how did this began

it's really quite simple, it all revolves around power
we work for war profiteers in their fancy towers
like in the past, with IBM and the holocaust showers
we are the enablers, the one's who empower

destroy the oppressive systems, social and political
freeing all races, sexes, and oppressed is critical
while staying apolitical

freedom.

that last photo may not have any relevancy towards the current middle-eastern wars/conflicts, but I just thought I need to show some Irish support for stopping wars.
