In Case Anyone is Interested... Land

Day 1,175, 17:47 Published in Ireland Ireland by King Connell
This is a report from the Financial Advisor. I wasn't sure if I was going to post this here or not, I know it will get more views here than it would if it was just on the forum. So just in case anyone is interested? Land!
I encourage anyone who feels as though that they have something to add to the conversation to post it in the forum rather here than in the comment section so we can keep all discussion in the one place.

Hi all,

This report will just address the change to the economical side of erepublik with the introduction of Land.

LAND
We now haz land, weh hey!!!  😉

What have they done?
Land is not just a changed user interface for erepublik, but a change to how companies will be bought and created from now on. Each player is given 3 free slots of land on which a single company of any quality level can be placed. If you want to have 3 companies more than you had at the changeover late last night then you will have to buy more land for each company. Each spot of Land costs 1k of the national currency and this money goes to the admin.
They have also changed the expense of creating the “building” of a q1 company to only 10gold and reduced the building cost of each q of company by 10gold.

Why?
It is arguable that the admins have implemented this change to counteract their previous mishaps where they devalued the currency of each country by buying goods from markets using a bot and a bottomless hole of cash and inventory spaces.

What does it mean?
One of the things that people are annoyed about with this change is that company owners have essentially lost 10gold from the value of their owned companies. Company owners who have more than three companies have lost 10gold from all their companies, but have also gained extra pieces of land which they may or may not ever use.

Another problem with this game change is that the cost of Land will vary(sometimes greatly) between each countries citizens as 1k of one currency can be a lot more than another... But it can also be a lot less too, so you never know some countries citizenships could become valuable if someone has the intention of buying a lot of land... *It is currently inconclusive whether this point is valid or not as the admin has not made it clear whether or not citizenship is necessary to buy land from the country.
Just checked it there and ends up you can buy land from any country of which you are resided in with that countries local currency. Citizenship does not come into it. This would lead me to believe that the earlier assumption about this new "feature" was a tool to extract the excess currency which the admin pumped into the game last month.

Something else which could create a potential problem would be an flurry of q1 companies being created by low leveled players. It’s now ONLY 10gold to create a company and that is really, a very low amount only one hard worker medal and one Supersoldier medal. So literally a month old two clicker could easily afford a new company now and that will no doubt lead to money being wasted on worthless low q companies.

The final thing to keep an eye on with this is the possible increase of currency worth worldwide. ie we might need to start printing iep again to counteract people buying land. If this does occur then it is likely it will only happen a long time down the road.

What the Government Should do...
Nothing to be done unless there's an immediate buying of a enormous amount of Land. (I think us Irish would have learned by now)

Predictions
If any of the negative things which I have talked about happen then I don’t see this game rule lasting too long. It offers little benefit or worth to anyone and I don’t see how it improves my enjoyment of the game. Bit of a needless change.

Admins, You’ve done it again and I salute you for it

Financial Advisor Awaaaaaaaaaay!!!!

Here is the official announcement which covers everything about the nitty gritty, buying and selling companies.
http://forum.erepublik.com/showthread.php/107975-Refund-10g-per-pre-existing-company!

Seems as though from the forum that the admin is pretty happy with it's work, I am clearly not so convinced, but only time will tell.
