The Irish William Wallace
Hello fellow comrades of the Independent Labour Party and friends of eIreland. I, MikeBane, have decided to take a shot at Party President of the ILP once more!
The ILP has been under good leadership, but what I think we need right now is not just good leadership, but strong leadership. What am I proposing here?
I, by no means, disagree with our party's decision to back Brian Boru for CP this month. In fact, I was one of the early supporters of the idea when considering what other candidates were presented. This leads me to my first goal.
Run an ILP CP candidate ~ Our past CP's did a good job executing the role of CP, however I will agree with our dissenters that the terms tended to be a little boring compared to others. I would like to see an ILP Country President who is strong in their convictions, demonstrates creative value, community-focused, and shows eIreland something they have never seen before!
Recruit More Members ~ Although we are the #1 largest party in eIreland, I believe there are still people out there who do not realize their agendas match the ILP's or have not given the ILP a chance. Perhaps they think since it is a large party that their voice or opinions will not be heard or taken seriously. This is NOT the case in the ILP, we respect every individual and their opinions.
Encourage National Consolidation ~ As one of the leaders of the Irish People's Army, there was no regret when Labour's Army offered to join forces with us. It has only made both our MU's stronger, more effective, powerful, and nearly always ranked in the top 3 for MU total opponents defeated. This consolidation made us stronger and so I would propose that we offer the Socialist Alliance of Ireland and the Irish Worker's Party an open invitation to join us in hopes of strengthening the Left as a whole in eIreland. These are small parties with less than 10 members, though they are still important to me. Grassroots is necessary for democracy, but in this situation it is unnecessary.
Lastly, I'd like to see more Lefties become more vocal, more active, more involved in the community, and make it known that the ILP is not a weak but a strong political party with active leadership and creative initiative.
