First of all, I have to say that this what you will (I hope so) read here came to me after reading one article where our e😜
resident Roby wrote about some (possibly) bad things that are happening to eRepublik as a game, and as I mostly agree with things he wrote, I thought about things that can be changed in order to make New World more interesting place. So, here we go:
War is the most important thing in eRepublik. Yes it is, don't fool yourself. And we need to change it. What I want is PLAYER VS PLAYER MODE
Now, how does it work and what should be changed?
1. There will be no wall anymore. Now you ask yourself why the f*ck we built those damn DSs. Later about that.
2. You can fight for defenders only from region that is under attack.
3. You can fight for attackers only in region that is attacking(it has to have border connection with attacked region)
These are the most important things. With those changes, we will need more tickets, and it won't be possible to fight for allies from home. So :
4. no MPP-s, only NAP-s( now we will see who the real friend are)
Now lets talk about fight mechanics. I think this could work:
Fighters stand in the line in order in which they joined fight. Defenders have first strike.
It looks like this:
Defender1 hits Attacker1. If A1 survives, then he hits D1. They exchange hits until one of them is dead. Let's say that defender won and he made last strike. Now A2 jumps in fight and he strikes first 'cause D1 had last strike with which he killed A1.
To win the region, we can make formula that will consider number of citizens living in attacked region BEFORE attack started.
So if there lived xxx citizens, attackers must have yy soldiers in line after time is up and there are no more defenders in line waiting to fight.

Now we are going to talk about DS, new companies and adding new feature to your citizen.
My idea is to divide strenght to attack and defence. So, if your S is 12, you will get 6 in attack and defence. How to train??? Simple...each day you will chose what you want to train, and you will recieve as nowdays 0.04 points.
In attacked region we have DS that will add bonus to each defending players defence depending of Q of DS. Attackers will need something else(name doesn't matter now) that will add bonus to their attack(except guns). So we will need construction similar to DS. And for defenders, we gonna need something to counter guns, let's name it shields as example😃

Now the main question? How to fight player vs player? What gets in calculations?
When you die in fight you lose 60 wellness, so you need at least 60 wellness in order to enter fight.
Based on wellness, defence skill and Q of shield and their number in your inventory(max 5 of best Q gets calculated in formula) you get yourself life points. (defenders get extra points for DS)
Based on wellness, attack skill and Q of gun and their number(sam as for shields) you get yourself hit points. ( attackers get extra hit points for new construction for attacks)
When soldier losses his life points he dies in fight and loses 60 wellness. After that he can heal from hospital, and use gifts and wellness boxes to enter the fight again, but he needs to buy new weapons/shield because previous 5 are used.
This are some rough thoughts about P vs P and if you think just a little about things that it will bring to game you can see that it is not bad 😃

good idea, but the problem is that it is sure that you will lose 60 wellness everytime you enter a fight because someone alway must die 😛

I dont like the part where someone must die, but I guess the question is does this mean you have 0 wellness or is the same 10 taken? or would there be some new number entered into the equation that factors in how long you lasted in the battle and increases the wellness you lose the longer you stay in. It's a good idea but there's definitely a lot of kinks to work out.

Too over thought out to involve countries plus in real wars and battles there's more than one-on-one fighting. Could make a fight club for EXP though and this would work.

uhh that would completely obliterate the new citizens. Citizens already start with a low wellness and if they have the guts to fight they will be diminished on wellness and with their low strength be easily destroyed. The system is very flawed, its nice to see some good ideas but I mean people just kinda vote this up because it is something new people dont look at how it will work. No offense but this would not work

I like the PvP concept, but how would it work if no one is attacking on one side? Say it's 2 am, no one is defending a region, but tons of people are attacking it? Does just nothing happen?

Good luck changing these kinds of game mechanics when we don't even have citizenship.
Lots of bugs in the idea, but good starting point. Liked the idea of a fight club though! That could work into something I think.
"I dont like the part where someone must die" - Come on guys! This is supposed to be WAR... Not laser tag! I agree - let's make the cost of war a little more realistic. I also think that if someone wants to become a soldier - they should be required to quit their job and be payed by the government.

I especially like the beginning of this article. It'd be a great idea if we had to move everytime we wanna fight. I mean, right now for instance, it's pretty funny that I just fought for Newfoundland, Canada from New Jersey, USA. And I get the benefits of fighting (that I could only do in Newfoundland), and the benefits of a Q5 hospital (that I could only get in NJ or FL), and I also get to work (for a company that is in yet another part of the country). The game would be more complicated and less simple (which is good) if we had to move for fighting, and we had to choose if we wanna fight or we wanna work and earn money. Also, what if we could only work in a company that is in the region we reside in? That'd make it even more interesting. Right now it's too easy, and gets monotonic, even boring after some time. It'd be good if players had to make choices like these regarding their elife.

I like it, as long as you can beef up the hospitals to account for the wellness loss. It makes wars more desperate and meaningful, and more risky. Kind of like wars are supposed to be.
@ Chrisholm: It could work similar to the way it works now with the 24 hour timer to gather your forces and "get in line". You can change the time to gather, if you like, but it is unrealistic to have no time at all for the defender to prepare.
Silly idea that WON'T happen ever.
Why are you proposing changing a social interaction game into some sort of Wrestlemania? Let's get rid of the cheats first and get citizenship and then worry about how to tweak the war module.
Increases risks of fighting and adds difficulty strategically. I'm up for it.
Bad idea, not only will it take waaaaaaaaaay too long to do for the admins (as in; if they WERE gonna do this it won't be for a LONG time), but it completely changes everything about this game.

I don't like having 60 wellness to join a fight. Maybe raising it to 50, but newer, less experienced players would have to work pretty hard to get up to 60 just to fight. And no matter what, even the best hospital could only raise it up 50, so you're almost guaranteed to lose at least 10 wellness each battle. Right?

I personaly think this would be a bad idea. The mortality rate of eRepublic citizens would skyrocket. 60 wellness is a lot to loose!!! Not only would that increase mortality rates it will reduce productivity greatly. Also, who decides which person goes first? I wouldn't want to be the first to attack because then I would defenitly be defeted. Also what about the people that would never get into the fight? Do all the people get proportionaly the same amount of exp no matter if they fight and live, fight and live or fight and die? Another thing i can see come from this is a rught to the coast and border states. Tons of people would want to move so that they may fight in a war. Yeah, you might say, "With so much a greater risk less people will fight." To an extent yes, less people will end up fighting but still there will be people that will fight anyways and then end up with a character with only 10 wellness or less!!! I give you cudose for the idea even though i see these flaws, at least you are thinking and being active.

the idea of war is great because when you use a hospital you can have MORE wellness than when you started fighting!
this way, wellness will constantly go DOWN!
