Headless Chickens Run Wild
Desertfalcon
The headless chickens ran wild yesterday as most versions of erepublik, except for the Hungarian and Swedish versions, experienced major glitches. The glitches not only affected the presidential command module but also made it so civilians were unable to fight (and sometimes even see) the battles. On top of that they also made it impossible for people to receive new messages or see new articles in the media. These glitches caused a great deal of trouble for the U.S. as they screwed up a region swap which allowed Hungary to attack and prevented Americans from fighting back.
Things started to go wrong soon after the war declaration on North Korea was approved. The vote passed congress 49-0, however once time ran out to vote on the bill the war stayed in pending mode for well over an hour when it usually only takes a couple of minutes. President Jewitt then prepared to attack North Korea by region swapping with China to gain Jilin and have another border with North Korea but delays and bugs hindered the President. Meanwhile the Hungarians were tipped off about the region swap and were able to take advantage of the glitches by attacking Jilin soon after the U.S. gained control (the Hungarian version of erep wasn’t affected by the major glitches).
The attack on Jilin put a stop to America’s plans to liberate North Korea. Instead the U.S. is trying to pull back from Northern China and has instructed its citizens to fight for the resistance in Liaonling so that when the Hungarians take Jilin they won’t be able to advance any further and take the high iron of Liaonling. With most Americans not being able to fight yesterday Hungary took a huge lead in Jilin and now with the wall at -1.5 million points it looks as if this will be a loss for American troops. Jilin won’t be a major loss since it hold no resources and only has a population of 15, but it will make one more region to take back to liberate China. The U.S. will still be able to attack again since they can always land swap with China to gain a border with North Korea or Hungary just as long as bugs like this don’t pop up again.

aww trying to blame bugs on your fail cute
" They can always land swap with China to gain a border with North Korea or Hungary just as long as bugs like this don’t pop up again."
Wishful thinking, they will pop up.
UNITED STATED OF FAIL FAILS AGAIN
Bugsie
Sad adoya.
Bugs, bugs, those damn bugs... yeah! 😃
I use the English version and at the time of the Jilin region swaps I haven't yet noticed any bugs. Also the Hungarian CP attacked Jilin in the very same minute China retreated it. Probably only a few seconds after.
I think it was an F5 battle and didn't have much to do with any bugs so I find this article a bit dishonest. It had a lot more to do with Jewitt carelessly going for Jilin only 1-2 minutes after some retreats (for gaining the initiative) which the Hungarian leadership of course noticed and thus were in high alert.
Gee sure is shitty comments in here. The article is accurate, at least we're not mariquitas
Oh, here come the trolls.
Funny how these "glitches" occur at peculiar times?
This is horrible!
The US couldnt fight yesterday, can anyone explain how thats fair?

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL..
DO NOT ONLY VOTE BUT COMMENT YOUR WISHES TOO..MORE IMPORTAND
VOTED MY FRIEND AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
As Nagyzee wrote.
The bug happened when the wall went down to -499094, it was like 2 hours after the start.
Nice try to blame it on someting else, but it was Jewitt... again...
hungarian erep is lame. very poor translation, so nobody use it. so where is your bug?
maybe it was not a bug.
it was your mug.
muhaha, i know it was bad 🙂
When I clicked on the vote button for this arcticle I got a headless chicken. Irony anyone?
Vilendor, exactly. I know perfectly that these bugs occured and the English version became unusable but it happened 1-2 hours later, not when the Jilin battle started.
@Nagyzee
There were bugs in the War module during that time. Notice how many retreats were done? The USA initially attack Jilin, but for some reason attacked Anhui as well. When they tried to retreat Anhui, it retreated the USA from both the Jilin and Anhui battles.
well the day when you have to play eRep in Hungarian....you know its @$$ backwards already. Boy is it an awful language, wish I would have picked Swedish instead.
If the war bug had not delayed the N Korea war, then the Hungary president would not have been awake to push his button faster.
Then there was the bug when Jewitt first attacked Jilin and the bug made him attack elsewhere. That alerted Hungary and gave them time to push the button when he tried again.
The big bug was that eUSA couldn't fight to defend Jilin last night.
Oh yeah, and the US forum went down at the same time.
Makes you wonder if all these bugs happening recently are not tied to the attacks on the US forum.
libregkd, John Largo, there would have been a better cure for that bug than trying Jilin again against an alerted Hungarian CP. Jewitt should have waited another 1-2 hours more.
I can understand that these bugs both caused you a loss of money and a loss of surprise element / time but he shouldn't have entered into an F5 contest right away.
@John Largo
Jeah, couse we are cave mans, we dont know anything about this game and it was clearly the best protected secret that Jewitt have to attack Hello Kitty in the next 2 days, befor a new russain president is elected. /sarcasm off
Dude, we had like 100 players spamming F5, all of them connected to the hungarian president. They warned him. Dont try to be a smarta*s
Lol Desertfalcon, i have expected more of you. You all know very well that there was no bug in Jilin. It's just like the Spanish trying to make cheating accusations after the 16k gold incidents.
Many of them have apologized later on and admitted that they made a mistake and there were no bugs/cheating, hope you will do that as well one day.
THIS IS A CONSPIRACY!!!
Admins should revert the game to the situation before the glitches. Way too much to ask... I know.
@ Clawy
Ask anyone who uses the english version if they were able to see the battles and fight yesterday and the result will almost always be the same.
When it targets selected languages (English/Spanish), and favors other languages (Hungarian), and it's timed perfectly with Hungary's attack ... it's not a bug. It's a rat. What are the odds of that accidentally happening? Let's don't be naive.
"Most Hungarians don't use the Hungarian version"??
Wut?
Yep, smells like a rat.
If it quacks like a duck, its a duck.
etc.
The Hungarian version was introduced just a few days ago and it's extremely crappy. Some things don't even work correctly in it even when eRepublik is running fine. At least that used to be the case a few days back.
So believe it or not most Hungarians still use the English version.
When I fought yesterday (at around 1 AM EST) I fought in the battle but it didn't give me a heal option like it normally does on the battle screen. I had to switch languages to Spanish I think? and heal from there.
I suppose if you are happy winning a battle because of bugs, then you would come to this article and gloat. What you might be gloating about, I have no idea, but gloat you will.
If, on the other hand, you occasionally or often put money into this game (and for the life of me, I don't understand why, but that's just me), you might be a bit concerned to see that the game is a buggy pile of headlesschickenware. In that case, you'd be petitioning the admins and writing articles just like this one, decrying the lack of Q&A in the development cycle.
Personally, I like this game, but how much are going to devote to it in terms of time, money or recruiting/retaining new players if it's completely unstable? Not much. And therein lies the problem: the game is a good one, but the execution is flawed. And that means a dwindling player base, and thus, no more game somewhere down the line. By writing articles such as these, and others that I have seen, the net effect is positive: it makes the devs/admins aware of player discontent, which will inevitably lead to player defection to other, less poorly coded games. Maybe, if we all scream loudly enough, they'll hold off on new releases at some point, or introducing new revenue generators, and finally fix bugs that have apparently lingered for months to a year.
That's a big if, but I do know what doesn't help: looking at this issue through the context of: "Well, my side won, so let's deny there is a problem". Because, it'll affect you at some point, and if it does it enough, bye bye game, which doesn't help anyone long term.
The return of DF.
I know personally, I was experiencing bugs.
well said H. McCoy!
Really interesting.
Bugs always exist.
Once this side is using them, once the other side.
Of course, when the other side is using them, then everyone is angry and wants judgment.
This is a game with bugs. That's all 😉
I use the english version either.
And about bugs. You didnt do anything when Romania had its inisiative becouse Serbia could not attacke him 🙂.
So some times Bugs hit you either 🙂. once or to times in a month WOW 🙂.
bugs? why take it so serius?
welcome to eReBUGlik dudes! 🙂
Bugs are there for everybody. Can you believe how many times did we hungarians have disadvantages due to these bugs? And you lost Jilin because your DoD gave you the order to not to fight there...
BTW I use eRepublik in english, and I could fight. It's not about the specific languages...
Oh yeah, and the hungarian referrer links for registration are not working... So where is your conspiracy now?
Instead of blaming us, blame the admins of eRepublik, and force them to fix these bugs - for e.g. by not buying golds until they fix it! That could work, they would do anything for money, but nothing just because you write an article about it!
I personally could not fight in Jillin and I could not check DoD orders or figure out what was going on since, the forums were Dos'd again.
Also, what was with fixing the US borders in the North American war and doing nothing to fix China's borders now.
>So some times Bugs hit you either 🙂. once or to times in a month WOW 🙂.
You, and others, are missing the point. Sure, this article is about how the bugs are affecting the eUS at the moment, just as if, were I to troll the eHungarian media, I am sure there was plenty said about the bugs when they affected that country. If you don't want to read venting by one country or another, why come here and, you know, read it?
That aside, it isn't about which side is being most affected at any given moment. The truth is, both sides are affected by bugs. If you put money into the game, and I know plenty of eHuns or eIndos who do, you might want to care about this issue beyond simply reiterating the same cliches time and time again. Such as: "Where were you when the bug hit such and such country, dudez?" Where to start with this? I was probably eating dinner. Is that what you wanted to hear? Good grief.
The point isn't that the bug hit your game enemy this time. The point is this: if you are putting money into this game, you have a right to expect better. If you excuse crappy code because, hey, it screwed up the other guy's day this time, you deserve what you get, which is more crappy code. That you are helping to pay to write.
What's so hard about this?
