Meet the Serbs !

STEVAN SINĐELIĆ (1771 - 1809), the famous Serbian military commander in the First Serbian Uprising, is one of those immortal Serbian heroes whom the Serbs still remember with pride and sing about. The chronicler Milan Đ. Milićević wrote: "As long as there are heroic hearts in the world, as long as the service to higher ideals is appreciated, and finally, as long as the contempt of death is the exclusive property of great souls, Stevan Sinđelić will be the pride and hope not only for Resava but for all the Serbian land."

+ Interesting story from Serbian History:

A hundred years ago, #Serbia was in the whirlwind of war and many children lost both of their parents at that time. Some of them had endured great suffering, retreating with the Serbian army through Albania to eventually find rescue in Greece, Italy or North Africa. However, thanks to Serbia's friends, such as #Scotland, a number of Serbian children were given the opportunity to spend at least a part of their difficult childhood in a peaceful environment, to go to school and prepare for life that was ahead of them. One such story is about a group of 10 Serbian boys, aged 15 to 17, who came to Scotland in the town of Dundee, in January 1917. Of course, Britain's public was very much aware of the horrible situation in the Balkans. In the media, Serbia was often called "heartily little ally", and many Britons helped Serbia in various ways - by sending humanitarian aid, assisting in hospitals, etc. Industrialist George Bonar bought a house in Dundee and donated it to the Serbian Charity Fund to make it a new home for the Serbian boys. All costs were covered by local communities through donations and other forms of aid.
In an article in the local press, published on 9 December 1916, it was written as follows: "Those boys will finish school in two years and as soon as they return to Serbia they will be able to start a business, to pass on their knowledge. Dundee City Committee for Aid to Serbia is confident that the boys will feel all the warmth of the citizens of Dundee... And that this will indeed be of true national importance for Scotland. The tragedy of Serbia and its heroic people have to count on our strong support."
Serbian boys have quickly become favorites of the locals. They participated in many charity events in Dundee, they always thanked everyone for all that they've been given. They would often say themselves that they wanted to learn as much as possible in order to gain knowledge and help Serbia. After a successful two and a half years of schooling, the house where they used to live was closed during the first half of 1919, and the boys returned to Serbia.

And one thing about Serbian nature, Dirna river this time !

Drina is considered one of the most beautiful rivers in the Balkans, maybe even in Europe. It is 346 km long and it's the longest tributary of the Sava River. Besides for its outstanding beauty, the river Drina became world famous thanks to the Nobel Prize for Literature winner Ivo Andrić and his book "The Bridge on the Drina"

Enjoy some beautiful photos !
