Football weekend: lots of close tables

Anderlecht has one point lead
After the draw from Club Brugge (1-1 against Beerschot), the road was clear for Anderlecht, who had to compete against former League winner RC Genk.
One goal from Mbokani was enough to win against a weakened force, Genk had lots of injuries.
Biggest win this weekend was for AA Gent. An astonishing 6-1 against OHLeuven.
In the table Anderlecht is on top, just before Club Brugge and AA Gent.
STVV still has only 2 points and is now already 4 points behind the Lierse and Westerlo.
Valencia gets up
After only one draw the past 2 games, Valencia won against Granada (1-0).
Not much surprises in Spain, Real Madrid (0-4) and Barcelona won (0-1), the table stays very closed. Only 2 points is the difference between leader Barcelona and 7th place Betis Sevilla.
Too much beer for Bayern?
This week it was the famous Oktoberfest in München. But no party for Bayern, who draw against Hoffenheim (0-0). They still got a decent 3-point lead on Werder Bremen (lost 3-2) and Mönchengladbach (lost 1-0).
PSG wins game for the lead
Winning from Lyon (2-0), PSG takes first place and puts Lyon three point behind. Still a closed table in France, if you're in second place right now, next week you can be 8th. On the lower places, there is also an open battle, so the following weeks will be interesting.
AZ already 4 points ahead
Loss for Ajax (1-0) and a draw from Twente (2-2) gave AZ a chance to break away. No problem for them with a 1-3 victory against the small VVV-Venlo. AZ, PSV and Twente are now favourites for the title. The bottom teams Excelsior, VVV-Venlo and De Graafschap already have a gap they have to close.
No real gaps in Italy
AC Milan only 5 points, after 5 games, that's bad. But table leaders Juventus and Udinese have also only 11 points. No team is yet on its highest form it seems, so let's wait and see.
Manchester X2
City and United ahead with a three point lead on Chelsea. Lots of goals in some game in favor of Chelsea (5-1), Fulham (6-0) and Man. C (0-4).
Arsenal is 15th with only 7 points from 7 games and is only 2 points ahead of the relegation positions. Rivals Everton and Liverpool played too this weekend, with a win for Liverpool (0-2).

Mmh, nothing about Standard Luik ?
Biased article ^ ^
I'm sorry, but they had to play against Lierse (not a real surprise they won). And they are 5th with 5 points down, so I didn't really gave attention to it. Nothing to do with favouritism 😉
One weekend before the Classico it's still interesting to check both teams' result... ; - )
