First Steps in eRepublik: My first Fed Party meeting

Day 1,947, 22:21 Published in USA USA by Clint Carmel

Greetings, loyal followers from around the world. Depending on where you are when you read this, it is going to be e-springtime, and the vernal e-quinox is upon us.

Today (Day 1,947) I went to my first Federalist Party meeting. I didn't really see much difference between that and a WTP meeting, since Mazzy Cat was there. In fact, I suppose that with this whole 'Unity' thing going on, most meetings of the big parties are run pretty much the same. (I figure that it's all people who've known and trusted each other for a long time.)

Anyway, it was useful, short, and to the point. There wasn't any boring crap, like with Robert's Rules of Being Boring.

Fingerguns started the meeting promptly and everyone stayed focused on what she was saying. She spoke about her goals and plans for the month, and then she introduced her cabinet and gave each one time (in turn) to talk about who they were and what they were doing. As a new player, this was the stuff I personally found most useful because I was meeting many of these people for the first time.

For those of who who are not very political, or who are not even in a party at all because you are turned off by government hypocrisy, waste and mismanagement... well, I can tell you one thing I found a surprise. This honestly shocked me: considering that the Federalist Party is right now the single biggest party in the eUSA, the tenor and tone of their meeting was very polite and cordial. Very welcoming. The big guns were not shy about showing support and appreciation for the people on their staff.

If you're looking for a fun party, you want to be a Fed. I got the distinct impression that the guys and gals in that meeting were really enjoying themselves. In a genuine way-- I didn't detect any brown-nosing or bureaucratic crap. People were comfortable enough to throw out random asides about Minecraft and other stuff, but focused enough that things actually finished up a bit early.

So, compared to a Warcraft guild meeting, the tone was a pleasant surprise. What also came as a surprise to me was the sheer volume of people who showed up. At a rough count I would put it at a good 6 dozen.

Bottom line: it was fun, and I'll go again.
