Dish4CP - A History, Money, and Politics

Day 3,479, 10:17 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Dishmcds
Ladies and Gentleman,

As Congressional Elections wound down, we are happy to say that we were humbled enough to gain 11 MPs in Congress, a 12th if you count BigAnt jumping in and out of UKRP, so a big welcome there. I would like to remind all UKRP MPs that we have a code of conduct that is expected, which includes the following:

1. We do what we can to ensure that each MP is informed on all votes, and we ask that you log in to vote (basically at least once per day if there's a vote taking place.

2. Ensuring our national security, voting to continue or add MPPs with Allies (typically communicated by either a Speaker or our MoFA) to ensure that we have enough MPPs to protect ourselves from invasion.

3. Ensuring that we do not allow donations from our country account without guidance from the Minister of Finance or President.

4. Have some fun, and if you have an idea that you'd like to propose, feel free to do so via article or PM.

Now that we have that out of the way, let's get down to business. For those of you that are not familiar with me, I have been a member of Erepublik since it's Beta test in 2007. I'm not sure if that's a blessing or a curse, but it does offer a lot of experience. I have been President of a country 7 times, including 4 times in the United Kingdom (of which I have been a resident of since 200😎, twice during invasion which we managed to fend off. I keep an open Government, and welcome all people who want to be involved. If I am honored to become the next President, anyone from any walk of Erepublik life is welcome to PM me if they would like to be involved. This means anyone, including the aforementioned BigAnt, Wayne, Dapper, etc. I am always willing to work with people who want to spend time to get things done, as this game is not just about elections or medals, but putting the effort in.

Finance Policy

Finance Policy is fairly straight-forward typically. Previously we have had long running Ministers of Finance running schemes to make money, such as Bombs, Thatcher, and so on. Currently we have Huey, who is as reliable and steady as he is great, and has agreed to continue his role next month as well should I win. I would like to see more schemes to perhaps develop training grounds, our military (specifically air battles, which I will get into more in our military policies), and any holes in our markets that might develop. It's time we look at how we can invest our tax income into more than just MPPs, but rather back into developing our citizens to be more successful. It is their tax paid to the Government, after all.

The Relationship Between Government and Congress

There are only so many things you can do in game, whether you're a Member of Parliament, the President, or so on. There's fighting (click), moving (click), voting (click), writing articles, and spending money (click). There does, however, in order to be functional as a country, require some level of coordination between the acting branch of Government that runs Ministries (which are not typically in game clicks), and our elected body of Congress (Parliament) that oversees it.

To that end, any Ministry that I run will be directly responsible to Congress the same as I would be. We will run a Speaker system to Congress, which all members will receive the same information, which will include any pertinent Foreign Affairs information, MPPs, and things that affect our in-game success. Should Congress request information in regards to the activities of a Ministry, they will be shared. If Congress believes there are things that we can differently, I am happy to work on implementation as well. The first step to any successful Government is inclusion.

Finally, just for those who made it this far, we're going to do things differently. Outside of listening and reacting to our own citizens, regardless of any hurrdurr they want to do, we each play this game our own way, and we're each having fun in our own ways. We should listen to that. We will be more involved internationally, and I intend to carry the following Cabinet positions:

Minister of Finance x 1
Minister of Defence (not the way it has been run, more information to come on that)
Minister of Foreign Affairs x 1, with preferably 2 Deputies (or more)
Alliance Attaché (more to come on this as well)
Prime Minister, responsible to oversee domestics

I'll have the next group out in a few days, which will be more information on Defence or Foreign Affairs, and the final out shortly afterwards. If you came to this article looking for cool graphics, I'll leave that to the "other" guys, I'd rather put time into getting things done.

Regards,
Dishmcds
