Could This Be The Beginning of the End for EDEN?

Day 854, 20:13 Published in USA USA by Desertfalcon

A couple of months ago it seemed incomprehensible, however, now that the U.S. is considering withdrawing from the alliance, EDEN could be on its last legs. Things all started to go down hill after the U.S. sent most of their troops to fight in Sindh instead of to help Croatia like the rest of EDEN. The Croatian battle ended up being a loss and the U.S. received most of the blame for it. American president PigInZen offered a formal apology along with several higher ups in the U.S. military, however other EDEN nations continued to troll the American media days after the events happened.

Many Americans grew tired of these insults from nations who were supposed to be our allies seeing as the U.S. had apologized (something rarely by other nations) and when other countries had screwed up in the past EDEN wasn't this relentless in their trolling. One example I can think of off the top of my head is when Spain accidentally gave 16K gold to peace by storing the gold in a company that was for sale. There was a little backlash from it seeing as a huge war was taking place but there was never that much anger directed at Spain.

Then came South Africa. South Africa was completely occupied by Phoenix a couple of days ago and in order to ensure the continued liberation of the country it was vital that a congress be elected to hand out citizenship and prevent PTOs. In order to have a congress though, South Africa needed to control at least one region on the 25th. South Africa was also going to have three high titanium regions in V2 which will be a very crucial resource thus making South Africa strategically important. Despite this importance however, EDEN didn't send much support to help liberate a region while the U.S. invested a great deal of resources. It started to appear as if EDEN didn't care too much about what was going on outside of Europe. South Africa has since regained a region and will have congress elections this month, however the damage had already been done.

The U.S. is split on the issue of whether or not to remain in EDEN. Withdrawing from the alliance would give the U.S. more freedom and allow the U.S. to possibly form a new alliance. At the same time however, the new alliance would be smaller than EDEN and unless enough powerful countries enter the alliance it could just be a punching bag for Phoenix, or maybe even a revenge seeking EDEN. Another possible solution is the U.S. withdrawing from EDEN but keeping the MPPs with EDEN nations. This way the U.S. and EDEN nations can still defend each other but neither side would be obligated to help the other. This would allow for EDEN to remain about as powerful and would be better for the alliance than the U.S. leaving completely.

If things don't cool off between EDEN and the U.S. however, things could turn out bad for EDEN. If the U.S. were to leave and start its own alliance bloc we could see several other nations in EDEN defect into the new alliance, most notably Canada and Australia. Canada, Australia, and the U.S. are the only three countries in EDEN outside of Europe and if the U.S. were to leave it would just make EDEN seem like an even more Euro centered alliance and tempt Australia and Canada to join the new alliance. Canada and the U.S. already have a sort of "Broliance" in effect so it will be interesting to see if this "Broliance" could actually give birth to an official alliance.

The U.S. government plans to wait a while before making a decision so that policy makers have a chance to cool off before possibly voting on a proposal to leave EDEN. Still this will likely be a hot button issue during the next congressional elections as congress will likely be voting on this next term. These next couple days will for sure be interesting.
