Cat and Mouse - Update from the War

Day 1,900, 21:48 Published in USA USA by Israel Stevens

At this point, Operation Gangam Style has almost completely stalled. The Operation can’t quite be called a failure, but Taiwan has been successful in delaying any sort of prolonged engagement with the United States. I was hoping that something of substance would happen during the week, and give me some material to write about. But alas, the week has been filled with a series of maneuvers and half-starts to a prolonged campaign.

Korean Peninsula, present day.

Since the United States lost the Resistance War in Jeollanam-do, there have been a variety of maneuvers all centered around the region.
First, Taiwan invaded, and easily beat South Korea 86-2. This wiped South Korea, and allowed the United States to declare Taiwan as Natural Enemy. Taiwan obviously followed with a counter proposal. For a few hours, it looked like the United States was finally going to get the prolonged campaign they had wanted since the beginning.

The Taiwanese remained committed to avoiding outright war with the United States however, and promptly opened a resistance war in the hyper-critical region of Jeollanam-do. Unsurprisingly, the resistance war was a blowout win for South Korea. Once again, the United States had their only border with Taiwan cut off.

The critical region of Jeollanam-do, USA’s only border with the Korean peninsula.

As of this writing, both South Korea and Taiwan have matching Natural Enemy proposals of each other. South Korea got their proposal off before Taiwan however, so if the measure does pass, South Korea will be awarded initiative.

The one caveat however, is that neither law proposal has any votes. South Korea has no Congress, so only the President can vote on the proposal. Taiwan does have a Congress, but is apparently super disciplined, as no one has voted yet. Whether this is a 24 hour game of cat and mouse by South Korea to try and get Taiwan to vote yes, and then vote down the Korean proposal (thereby awarding initiative to Taiwan), remains to be seen. There could also be something larger at work.

Conclusions:
The region of Jeollanam-do remains the most important of the war. The twin NE proposals that are running currently, are all about that region. South Korea will most likely attempt to suicide in to Taiwan, and force Taiwan to wipe them, thereby allowing the United States to declare Taiwan as Natural Enemy.

The United States needs a foothold on the peninsula, and Jeollanam-do is the choke point.
