BLABBERING ABOUT THIS GAME
grindarkly
This game has effectively turned me into a 2 clicker.
There are power house players having literally thousands in gold medal wins, hording medal wins like spoiled; over privileged children. There is no room for newbies to get in once lvl 4 is reached.
My thought after being bitched out intensely for accidentally winning while unloading specials without looking carefully at stats. whats the sense in playing if the game keeps getting worse and greed gets ever so intense. (Planet wide entitlement is off the scale now; but not just in games)
(When you have A few minutes before a battle ends and you need to set up weapons and such [weird deploy] or have a timer running on specials its hard to take time to look carefully at details.)
A polite, "will you refund me the BH gold?" would be much more courteous than threatening country or player or cussing up a storm with a litany of name calling. With nowhere to battle ,there is very little choice but to become a farmer. so....here I am with my pitch fork trying to figure out the market.
Looks like the power house players have given up war for farming also; and are moving in silently.
I initially thought if game got good enough I would start spending money here but all went downhill instead so. I been riding the avalanche hoping for change. Pocket change was not the kind I was waiting for but....Its a place to hang out and pass the time so here i am and here i remain with country having the most honorable and most integrity.
I have toured this games halls fairly well I think considering the minefield of pitfalls, and I think I'm doing ok. so I am content enough with what I've got going. Its just a shame there isn't more teaching and sharing of gameplay and values: Practices and expectations, before unloading on people about "breaking the rules"
There should be a clear and present posting for newbies about the facts of these troubled areas so these so called "rules" can be clearly understood and put into practice. I believe this would help considerably in quelling the uproarious instances of stepping on someones toes. Example: A Wiki post.
WOW!.....what a rant. Truly a Dark (and troubled) Place
If you like it, feel free to link it or share how you like. Just don't steal it. (Still my post after all.) Recognition where its warranted.
Comments
1. You are correct. There is no room for new players in erep.
2. There is no such thing as "stealing a BH medal" In every case, without exception, the person with the highest damage wins the medal. In nearly every competition, the person with the best score wins. In a football game, it doesn't matter when in the game the winning team scores the final points that push them ahead, simply that they score them.
3. The division system is broken and maverick pack has got to go. Strength and rank, rather than level alone, should factor into one's division.
The could restructure the limits of what defines each Division, that would make sense to me.
I wonder if divisions by strength could be a thing.
divisions by strength wouldn't work, unlike most people believe. It seems good at first until one think of when one should switch from D1 to D2? Players completely control their strength growth, so a person will train each day right up until they are about to cross into the next division. That way they are the strongest in the division all the time. To train 1 more time would make them the weakest, so there is no incentive to train more.
My suggestion would be to create divisions based on age of the account. And reduce the divisions down to 2. One division for new players and the other for older players. Accounts that are
of course not. Because people would exploit it. To be fair, it would have to factor rank, level, and strength. In any case, it means work for the idiot developers - which they won't do, so its mostly academic. I think the greater probability is that they'll simply wipe accounts, do a minor rebranding of the page and relaunch it as a new product. That's far cheaper and more likely to attract short-term interest.
~hyuu~
I always believed that halving, or even quartering the strength point every couple of years would give new players more room to catch up. But most people wouldn't be into that, since they've put a decade+ into the game to gain that slight advantage over each other.
After battle farms started popping up and people starting quitting/getting banned, getting medals had gotten a lot easier. Sky medals are still as tough as always. But once you hit D4 as a newbie, you're SOL.
The only thing you can do is to focus purely on air battles. Activate houses. Have full energy and have a level up waiting for you. So you'd effectively have 3 full bars of energy to dump at the start of an air battle and hope your 50-60k damage is enough for a medal.
I appreciate all the comments. I also agree with idea that more divisions would make sense. Something like 6 with much bigger gap than 1 through 4. I'm surprised anyone posted. I thought my dark place had died. LOL. I often think of putting a game together everyone could appreciate but themes and game play are hard to be creative with. especially graphics.
It would have to be a d&d style to start of with till volunteer graphics creator could give everything life. My days of coding are over anyhow.especially with how easy it is now. even websites are now point/click to build. No more FrontDoor bbs management needed for websites. LOL how archaic circa 1990's
The structure of a game like eRep should be to work to a finite end, in other words someone wins. If someone wants to jump into the middle of a session it is with the understanding they are at a disadvantage.
Admin has worked continuously to prevent a winner. Admin insists the game game continues forever. It cannot help but fail. It would be like having a road race where you could pull off, buy a newer, faster car and reenter the race at any time. You can park for awhile and your tank magically refills or you can go to the petrol station to pay for fuel. We wonder, after 11 years of racing why some are some are thousands of km/miles ahead of those who just joined the race.
If you want an eRep that works it should be reset every year (for example). The knowledge learned playing a strategy game would be the advantage/pay off.
I've played games where it resets every couple of months, in a different style than this game though. However, in those ones there were eternal leaderboards so you were always looking to be top for that session, and tried to have the top overall in scores.
For me personally, because everything always reset, I never saw a reason to pay for anything. I was tempted once in a while, but recalled that everything resets and so whatever I buy today would be money wasted in 3 months because I'd have nothing to show for it. Erepublik, I can buy gold today and have it or whatever I spent it on tomorrow or a month from now. If I buy packs, I know they will mostly turn into gold through easier battle heroes, faster rank growth, sky heroes, etc. Because the game doesn't reset, I feel decently ok with investing money and time into the game to amass my own inventories and wealth because it won't just be taken away from me every 2 or 3 months. If the game did reset, I'd probably be gone.
Problem is stagnation. The hundred people that signed up about the same time as you did had mostly the same opportunity. Applying certain tricks to get ahead, the successful few feel as you do. Every successful generation adds a few who are able to make progress. We, the players, have fostered the ability to play "the meta game". That's good, we have fun. But we're forcing the game to fit our desire.
I think anyone who makes elite should be just kicked of the planet.
Have other worlds that can be explored. with all your goodies with you to trade for goodies in new world.
with different strategies and tools to build newer more interesting things.
in other words...make game more expansive not more expensive.
I was suppose to hording that shitt, now you tell me.
Divisions might of worked out had the Admins not then realized they could make money selling Maverick packs. Then other people discovered they could make money selling primer hits for people buying the Maverick. Packs.
So the idea to bring new players into the game was sacrificed in order to get more money out the existing players.
