Around the World S2 #1; Warrior's Amnesia

Day 2,112, 21:55 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

The Sunday edition of the newspaper! Get caught up with all the battles going on today, so you're in the loop!

I won't cover such things as training wars and nations agreeing to swap regions or anything, since those don't have a place in warfare analysis. So if you don't see anything here, assume it's supposed to be happening 😉

North America

This week

The War of the Patriot

Belligerents: USA vs. Poland
Results: A headliner to be sure, with two massive nations duking it out. On paper, a great war to watch and a spectacle to behold. But it hasn't lived up to the billing as of yet. The backstory for this, of course, is America's attempt to rebuild their nation after the triumvirate triumphed over the Yanks, wiping the nation for more than a moment. But with exits by Hungary and Serbia, it's left Poland as the lone fighter battling America. Poland, seeing Serbia's inevitable downfall, got in a couple quick strikes against American apathy, reaching the West Coast in no time flat. Of course, now that America can fully focus on Poland, it may be high time that the Poles get a real MPP fight. With France also potentially getting involved, can America free its country or will it fall short?

South America

This week

The Argentinian Colonial Conquest

Belligerents: Brazil vs. Argentina, Uruguay
Results: Brazil, in gaming terms is gettin' rekd. With Argentina free to attack Brazil without any distractions, the Brazilians are getting slaughtered. Both at home and in the South African colonies, Brazil is failing to put up much resistance, as Argentina and Uruguay invade the territories. With South Africa no longer a friendly guest home but a landlord eager to evict their poor client, the South Africans have noticeably signed MPPs with such nations as Argentina, Colombia, Serbia, and Poland. Brazil's surroundings are getting more hostile by the second, and it won't be long until they are wiped, unless a miracle occurs.

Europe

This week

The Scandinavian Scuffle

Belligerents: Finland, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden vs. Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia
Results: The longest continuous battle (sorry Croatia and Serbia), this war has been going on for ages. Similar to other battles, this features relatively even sides, so the victor tends to be the one with the greater allies. For awhile, Finland and Sweden had full punching bag power over their Baltic rivals, but now, the tables have turned, with Norway wiped, Finland under siege, and Sweden still half occupied. However, the new turn in global strength seems to have favorable conditions for the Scandinavians. Besides the union of Denmark and Germany ready to fight Lithuania, Bulgaria will also try to do what Canada couldn't, ASing the Baltic nation as well. Whether CoT's intervention will be the final blow for the Baltics remains to be seen.

Balkans/Asia

This week

Operation Crograde
Belligerents: Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Italy, Macedonia, Switzerland vs. Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia
Results: Yet another Serbian empirical collapse. You know the gist of it already, since it's happened this for months. But unlike last time, when Croatia's crew didn't pan out, this time they delivered. Hitting France and Italy, the outskirts of Serbia's empire have fallen, like the American territories did beforehand. Likewise, the Balkan trio have quickly moved in to take chunks of territory, Bosnia and Albania taking all home regions and Albania a bit more, with Croatia just behind. Albania, already occupying Montenegro, is avoiding overextending itself with another battle against Serbia, but Macedonia has made up for it, already taking Southern Serbia, thought they've been repelled in Kosovo. Other noteworthy happenings are Italy and Slovenia, technically at war but neither side willing to commit to an attack. Croatian intervention could be the game-changer for Italy if it happens.

Oceania

This week

New Macedonia

Belligerents: Macedonia vs. New Zealand
Results: It's a thing to get safe congress by airstriking to less hostile areas. Hostile to hospitable, right? Whether it's a weak enemy or a small but friendly ally, it's become a widely used technique for moderate powers that can't quite secure congress without a doubt every month. First, the newly built up French airstriked into Russia, after a Mexico plan failed to materialize. Then, Italy decided to move to Colombia, forgetting to bring allies to help or the fact that Colombia wouldn't be too easy to hold down. But Macedonia's airstrike on New Zealand has worked splendidly. The former Dutch and British colony has been no match for the hardened troops of the Balkan power. It may not be too fruitful of a home, but it's better than being wiped. At New Zealand's expense, Macedonia should have easy congress now.

The Australian Liberation

Belligerents: Indonesia vs. Australia
Results: Personally, I adore Australia (or at least the girls there~), so it's interesting to watch the war down under. Indonesia, the predominant power in the area, and frankly should have the easiest time having an empire next to China in the game, has had to struggle a bit more as of late since Australia's ascendance into TWO's minor alliance, ACT. For a moment, TWO forces had managed to push into Indonesian territories. However, as TWO empires collapse around the world, there's been too little damage coming Australia's way, leading to Indonesia gaining control of the battle. They've now taken half the outback, and barring a treaty, it seems that Indonesia will easily hold down Australia (relatively, since Australia is feisty *rawr😉, and can enjoy this strange new border with Macedonia (yes, that green is NOT Australia, my friends).
