Join the new world

As loyal readers of this column know, a point is made to interview the people of eRepublik, whether they are running for office or simply citizens of note. Interviews are important, because 'social interactions' are an important part of any browser game. And so today we have a special guest: Crash Thompson, Director of Recruitment for the Federalist Party.



1) Who are you? That is, what is your official Fed title, and what does that department do?

I have the privilege of being the Director Of Recruitment. My awesome staff includes Brave Fighter, Mikeypenny1, The Original Fawkie, DrewFTW, and Logamac.

As a department our job is to find those lost players who have no political home. We message and invite them to the eRepublik oasis of fun and activity that is the Federalist Party. Mainly we do this by messaging brand new players, every now and then look for older unaffiliated players.

We can never do our job alone. Even though we PM players, just having an awesome media department brings the Federalist Party name to everyone. Having awesome players in general interacting with others spreads the fame of the Feds to every corner of the eRepublik world.

So, even though I have an awesome staff, every Fed works for me in some capacity. Even you with your great articles.



2) How long have you been playing, been a Fed?

First time I played, I came in as CrashNCT, then left and came back. I then created a new account CrashNBurn. I got onto IRC for the first time and talked to citizenslave and fingerguns. Feds were a small party. I don't remember 100% but I remember talking to citizenslave about the business module and gold trading. Fingerguns if not the first time I met her or later, was trying to set up a group game on POGO. This was really awesome. Feds knew their stuff and were trying to have fun so I joined. Anything else I did you can read in the Wiki, but I ended up leaving due to real life coming in hard. Sad to say it, I cut off eRepublik entirely which I actually regret. It took about 3 years till I came back. But the second I came back I joined the Feds because they were the best party then and are still the best party today.



3) Achievement you are most proud of?
Being in the Federalist Party.





4) The wiki page currently lists you as Director of Retention and as Deputy Director of Recruitment. Is this correct? Roughly how long have you been doing each?

I am only the recruitment director. I first started working recruitment because Dunks was offering gold for messaging. Then I got in a thread spamming war with Paul for a while, but Dunks beat the crap out of both of us, and I have stopped trying. Because of my recruitment efforts and the title Star Recruiter I was given a chance to be an assistant director of recruitment under Kody5 while Gnilraps was PP. The last week of Gnilraps term he asked my to work Retention. Then Fingerguns came in, I applied for retention and was given the privilege to serve as director.



5) What are your goals--- ballpark numbers for how many new players you'd like to see recruited and/or retained each month.

We will exceed 750 members.



6) What one thing would you tell someone who isn't in a political party right now, if they ask you why should they be a Fed?

If your not in a party, get into one. There is no reason to be unaffiliated. Whether you care about politics or not, the more homes/communities you are part of the better your experience in eRepublik. Military Units (MUs) are only one community, you need a political community also. Better yet, be a Fed. We have the biggest base of activity. Not just a lot of old people leading and zombies (we do have our zombie two clickers) but if you want to get involved in anything I feel we support you. You want to run for office, great-- help us get others in first, then we will be happy to run you. You want to write articles, we will give you ideas, edit them, and vote for you.



7) And what would you say if asked why you are one?
Why am I a Fed? Simply put: "FEDS ARE EPIC".
