A Visit With the Women of eRepublik, Issue 2

Day 711, 01:39 Published in USA USA by Bia Pandora

Welcome Back to The Estrogen Dungeon!

I did not expect the incredible reaction that I received after I posted my first official issue, “A Visit with the Women of eRepublik”. The comments, feedback and messages that I received were all very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts on my work and to share the names of other players that you’d like to see interviewed.

Because of your comments I have decided to run this newspaper as a series of group interviews. Some will be women, some will not! I have decided to cut down the number of people interviewed to an average of 5 to 7 per issue. As always what they have accomplished is not important to me, what is important is that they are having fun playing the game and want to meet new people!

If you have any person or group that you’d like to see interviewed, or you belong to a group that would like to be interviewed please feel free to message me and share your ideas! Or simply comment their names to me and I’ll do what I can to make it happen! I cannot promise that everyone you suggest will be interviewed, I will do my best to get them interested but ultimately it is their decision if they want to be included.

And now I’d like to introduce you to some more fantastic female players that I believe you should know! Please give a warm welcome to (in alphabetical order):

The Q & A

~ The Estrogen Dungeon (hereafter referred to as TED): Has being a woman helped or hindered your eLife?

Arbryn: Both, depends on the circumstances really. This comes up all the time one way or another.

Christina Trammell: Well I'm more respected as a woman on eRepublik. Plus, some of my bosses have given me raises because of it, lol. Other than that, I haven't seen much of a difference.

Cocoamok: It has helped on most cases. Many underestimate you (their disadvantage), they like to be in contact because there are not that many woman in the game. And because there are not a lot you can have good contact with other woman. But the sexist behavior of some is not helpful; I lose sometimes my commitment because of that. Also in the beginning they wanted to talk with you but tried to get a marriage instead that you have a normal chat, so time consuming. And men think woman are bad with finances and strategy. They are wrong, but it cost sometimes some trust in me.

Dania: Helped definitely. I have nearly 1,700 friends here; I know that wouldn't have happened if I was a guy. Being a woman has opened doors for me, but with each organization or endeavor I find once you're in you will typically be judged on your personal merits, not your gender.

Mdeusa03: Neither, I got where I am on my own with a little from help from friends and my hubby "sukoidha', I think that every woman shouldn't just expect things to fall on a silver platter for them, if you want something, you go and get it, simple as.

Trista Devonaire: I do not feel that I have been hindered in any way. I would also hope that it hasn't helped either. I would prefer to let my accomplishments speak for themselves. Hopefully my drive is what people see and my ideas couple with that drive to showcase a valuable asset.

~ TE😨 Have you had any negative experiences because you are a woman?

Arbryn: Yeah, some guys are immature; it’s the internet so really not a surprise and bound to happen eventually. It’s not any different then any other online game.

Christina Trammell: Can't say I have.

Cocoamok: As said before. Sexist behavior. Thinking I cannot work with finances.

Dania: Being a girl gamer that's unavoidable it seems. You strike up a casual friendship with someone and two PM's later he's trying to get in your pants. Fortunately it's pretty easy to ignore them in here. Professionally I've always been treated with the greatest respect in eRep.

Mdeusa03: Yes one time I had a citizen ask me to "suck his lollipop",
that kinda scared me cuz if he was like a little lollipop, he wouldn’t have lasted long with me ;p

Trista Devonaire: There have yet to be any negative experiences to be attached to my memories with the eUSA.

~ TE😨 What has been your proudest moment?

Arbryn: Probably saving my nation from multiple PTO's.

Christina Trammell: I believe my proudest moment was when I finally got a company. It took forever to get the money built up!

Cocoamok: When after four times of being country president I did not run. People had been making a nice article and were thanking me for my work. That made me proud that the community was thankful of what was being built up in that time.

Dania: The day General Bastion offered this unknown Private the position of Mobile Infantry Press Officer, and the promotion to Major that came with it.

Mdeusa03: When General Eugene Harlot promoted me to take over his company in the marines.

Trista Devonaire: Pulling together my platoon. The soldiers of the Home Guard often feel passed over by the bureaucracy of command and especially with the fluid nature of the branch. I feel that I have helped them see what a real commander can do and in such they have each proven themselves to be outstanding soldiers.

~ TE😨 What are you working on achieving right now?

Arbryn: Keeping Singapore stable and helping them become more involved & just having a lulz of a time in general. It’s a game, meant to have fun.

Christina Trammell: Right now I'm trying to save up to level my company up and get a new one started.

Cocoamok: Improving the economy of the United Netherlands and improving our community.

Dania: Next week I will publish my 24th consecutive weekly edition of the MI newspaper the Battle Cry. That is 6 months of doing something every single week, which given the turnover in this game is an accomplishment on its own. I hope to keep the newspaper interesting enough someday we'll have 1,000 subscribers.

Mdeusa03: Building up the eSingapore military to make it as strong as it can possibly be, this is increasing activity, make frequent PMs with the military personnel.

Trista Devonaire: I am currently working on a business model, to assist the Home Guard, but it is an arduous task that will most likely not near a test run for a few months, at best.

~ TE😨 What advice would you give a new female citizen?

Arbryn: Just be yourself, don't worry about the guys and play the game on an even slate. There is no reason you can't do this unless you hold yourself back.

Christina Trammell: Don't be worried because the majority of the players are male because they will respect you.

Cocoamok: Use your abilities, focus on the things you want to do and have the skills for. Make friends, cooperate. Do not be only the ones needed for a marriage. Make your eLife interesting. Ignore the sexists.

Dania: Try everything. I got extremely involved in politics and worked closely with the USWP for quite a while. LOVED the people there, then realized I had no patience for the political infighting. But politics might be where you shine! I got deeply involved with the money market and financial investment organizations (even made some decent money) until I decided that converting gold to LVL just wasn't where it's at for me. But you might be the next financial wizard of eRep! Now I'm focused on a military career and feel like I've found my home. But you might find the whole military structure a bore! Explore until you find a place you enjoy, there are some wonderfully supportive communities around here.

Mdeusa03: To be persistent and persevere through erep, and learn the game, learn the mechanics, the war module how everything works, and get involved socially 🙂
Also never give up, no matter how hard the situation is.

Trista Devonaire: Don't be fearful of the eWorld, there is a place for all citizens. Strive to move forward and you will meet many helping hands along the way.

~ TE😨 Is there anything that you’d like to add?

Cocoamok: I think the woman active in eRepublik are doing better than average. Many became leaders of a nation and did a very good job. It is a community game, for that you must be good skilled in communication to achieve something. And this way we showed women are good. But because our numbers are small a lot of men are not convinced women and men are equal. So a lot more work is needed on the gender issue.

Dania: Don't over commit. I've seen too many people who take on tasks they find fun at first, but then become a drag to spend that much time doing every week. Often these folks just slip away into retirement and leave the game because they see that as the only graceful way out. If you find yourself in that situation be strong enough to resign gracefully from the commitment, but hang around the game and do something less stressful. It's really a great place to play!

Mdeusa03: I would like to thank all the people who have helped me though my erep career -
Sukoidha - for being my ehusbund and always being there for me.
Paradiziac - for always being a good friend to me and explaining things which I did not know.
Eugene Harlot - For being the best Commandant the marines ever had and sharing with me his leadership expertise.
Dexter Jones - Deceased, for drafting me into the marines and teaching me the basic ropes of erep.
Thanks, for asking me to do this interview and look forward to reading your article.

Trista Devonaire: I feel that I have said everything I can, thank you for your consideration. I wish you much luck with your new paper.

~ TE😨 Thanks to everyone for reading! In the next issue more players you should know!
