[UKGOV] UK Today, Day 1431

Day 1,431, 06:33 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

Good Day and welcome to UK Today!

- MoHA gives us the longest article this month!

- eUK Pub Reminder!

- National Newspaper Association Reminder!

Here we have a juicy interview by Jimbojoy, of our Lord and Master, Prime Minister Temujin94!

How did you first hear about eRepublik?

Just browsing for games, saw eRepublik advertised. Seen it was politically based which interested me so I decided to join.

And did you come back and play the second day, and so on?

Yeah I've never spent that long away from eRep, I was hooked from the start!

How quickly did you get out 2-clicker land?

About a week or so I trundled my way onto the forum, then a while longer to get on IRC where I spent about 5 days pestering Tom Morgan on how to register a irc nick.

How big a part do you feel the old media module helped you get aware/active?

It was big thing for me, it was really before announcements came to the forum so it was the only real source of information. I read Dishmcds articles daily and it helped me move from occupied territory to London for the first defence of it in Feb 2010.

(I remember that, I was in Austria Skiing, and logged in from my hotel to fight! That was back in the day, where you got 5 hospital fights per day)

So what did you get up to in your first three months of eRepublik?

My first 3 months I joined the RFA which was ofc the coolest party at the time. I was also a big time poster in my first few months in BBH and it was one of the main reasons I stayed around. I also did a lot of ministerial work, I worked in 4 ministries at one point which were the MoW, MoHA, MoD and MoFA.

What happened next?

About 4 months in I was banned in the forums for some silly behaviour and moved to Canada as a British spy. I spent about 4-5 months in Canada. It was disappointing as it set me back 6 months in my erep 'career' and it was only thanks to Woldy and GGryan I was able to get back at all as many thought I was working for the Canadians.

So what shenanigans did occur in Canadurp?

It was quite boring for me, they were rarely on when I was on due to the timezones so I was very close to quitting erepublik entirely for most of the time I spent there. I found out some things, yes, but I didn't really try that hard as it was a bit sh*t spying for a country with no guarantee I could return and also pissing off all the friends you gain in Canada at the same time.

So who knew you were over there?

Ah just me, GGryan and Woldy, which is rather bad due to the fact that everyone in the eUK think you are nothing but a traitor even though you are actually working for them. I think people like Thatcher and Iain were quite pissed or good actors 😛

So, roughly nine months in, you came back to the eUK?

Spent a month in Belgium as MoHA but yeah then back to the eUK . I got back and was made Pope of BBHfor the first time and had a very successful reign compared to others who were lucky to last a week I lasted 4 months. I also became PP of the RFA which is one of my great memories of eRepublik.

Why did RFA end, and wasn't it under your tenure?

Well RFA had a good enough start we went back up to 3rd but we really had no core members left it was me and one or two others. We had this problem before and the party was nearly killed off before (I actually renamed it RFA when I was PP as it had been renamed to some silly nonsense) ad the party decided through a poll to end RFA rather than trying to keep it afloat unsuccessfully. It was one of the worst days in eRepublik for me. It wasn't helped by Goku Jones, who was quite divisive. He can be a really hard worker, but just aided and abetted the end of RFA.

So after this you moved to Belgium again?

Well I was in Belgium in total for about 4 months, I was MoD 3 times, Deputy CP twice and MoHA once. Being in Belgium allowed me to get experience running a ministry I probably wouldn't have gained from eUK as it was more competitive.

It was the first time I had one of my all-night supplying sessions, which later brought me to wider attention in the eUK community when we had to try and defend London twice.

Next you joined the the TUP?

Yeah I was actually rejected by Iain on my first attempt to join TUP but I was accepted on my 2nd attempt, I've now been part of TUP for about 4-5 months and -

(Jimbo interrupts)

I think it went to a vote actually, because I definitely voted on the second one to accept you! Democracy lawlz.

(Temujin94 continues)

In my months in TUP I was quite surprised about how much I enjoyed being part of the party, everyone was very welcoming. I was a bit critical of the motto 'Strength in Unity' at first but now being in the party I can see it's significance. I was never eye-to-eye with people like Iain and Dan Moir but now we get on very well and I'm really glad I made the move.

What have you done in this last 4-5 months (prior to CPship)?

Well I had a quiet time in the first few months but as I mentioned earlier the London battle changed things for me. I spent one day wondering if I would get into congress or not (Having missed out for the first time the previous month), to being at the top end of the eUK with a spot in the MoFA and people actually suggesting I run for CP. It moved very fast from one extreme to the other.

So you then obviously picked your cabinet and ran, how did you decided on people for it, and how did you find the election (nervous, indifferent etc)?

I obviously picked people on merit, being in the RFA for so long and having spent time in other parties I've never favoured my own party over someone else if they can do the job better. On election day I was extremely nervous there was less than 5 votes in it for most of the day and I had lost a election by 4 votes In Belgium so I was praying something like that wouldn't happen again, and thankfully it didn't.

How has your CP month gone so far?

Militarily? I wish the war with Canada was going slightly better but Sweden missed out on a opportunity in Canada which set us back and also ONE not as dominant as they were we can't expect the same level of support as we once could so we are not winning as many battles as we would like. That said, UKers are pulling together well, and we continue to thank Alfragem for his work 😉
Domestically, I think the ministries are running great though, they've had a great start and they continue to keep up the good work so far and hopefully we can continue to improve as the month goes on.

What's next for Temujin94 then?

Oh I don't know much but It'll be in the UK whatever it is. Most CP's kind of disappear for a while after a term, i'd like to stay on and help the incoming CP with anything I can. I also enjoy the alliance work I'm now involved in so hopefully I can make some contacts through that.

So a Second Term of being Prime Minister is out of the question?

Well I haven't ruled it out yet, it's tiring work but November may be my last chance to run for CP until Feb/March so it could still happen, we'll have to see how this month works out!

Remember
In your entertainment for this month we are running with a Pokemon theme. To that end, in this UK Today and in following issues, there will be pokemon hidden here and there. For those who wish to take part and be in with a chance of winning a prize and becoming a pokemon master, we are running a little competition called "Gotta Catch 'em All!". When you find yourself a pokemon in an article, send a PM to Invalidation with the name of the pokemon you've seen and where you found it. A record will be kept and whoever catches the most by the end of the month will be named pokemon master, and prizes will be given out to the best pokemon trainers.
