[SFPOM] Recent Events

Day 3,645, 07:56 Published in USA USA by Max Tse Tung

Hello Party Colleagues, and Congressmen,

Maxwell Hanz here with a longer article than usual.
It's been a few days since my last publication but I have used that time to take a look at some of the issues we face as a party and am willing to, in this article present a sort of inside scoop of how things are operating in the SFP both Politically and Socially.

This article will also entail some of my personal views and so some of this is not the party's official stance on the subjects.

This Passing Term

This term was overall sort of controversial. With the near absence of our Party President Salty one could say that wholesome Political debates have stagnated to an unfortunate extent.

A multitude of players in the SFP, myself included have recently been pondering over our parties options. I have talked with multiple people including Leon Gutierrez, Jimmy Cincinnati, and Phil Harmony just to name a few on a variety of issues surrounding the SFP including personal attacks against individuals and attacks made on society.

It would seem that this is one of the central issues in today's SFP politics. But I must be clear that there is beneath the muck, a heart that is not going to stop beating. These are not the only issues at hand. We should be conscious of who we let represent us.

We should be open and social. We should be looking at the parties past and trying to figure out how to use some of that great history in the future. It could come in the form of reimplementation of older party programs or through the further seeding of new ideas.

The Revolutionary Committee did not have anything, in particular, to work on this term. Now, in my opinion Salty is not to blame for any of the problems we are currently facing as a party and we shouldn’t judge him for his absence as real life is more important than eRepublik.

Where is the Government?
Anyone notice that lonely cricket chirping where the government used to be? I do. Where is the transparency? We have gone quite a while without much ‘real’ news coverage from government sources and i'm starting to get concerned. I guess I just have one question.

Why does the Wild Owl era have to be so quiet?

Announcing My Next Congressional Run
I will be running for congress for the November-December Congressional Term and I hope you will vote for me. I have served a total of three terms in the past and will document and make my vote known to the public. I have decided to run due to the rising need for secure positions in the SFP Congressional Delegation

The Nearly Dead SFP Constitution Group And My Concerns On It
So I decided I’d set aside a segment of this article for a talk on a sort of controversial subject. That subject is of course: The Still Lingering Constitution Working Group.

This is the group that was set up last term by Party President JA Lake. The group was set up to oversee the drafting of a new SFP Constitution. During Lake’s term a considerable amount of work was done to draft up a document that everyone could agree with. (and to be honest it's still not done.)

My point in bringing this up is to express the fact that if this work is to be continued into the next term then the group ought to be recreated to include more Comrades. That is to say if we even want to keep the revisions going. Most of the work done included the creation of a larger version of the Revolutionary Committee called the General Assembly and mechanical changes to the phrasing such as dates.

More importantly, this revision seems to drop some of the more unnecessary rules by straight up not accounting for them and that's where more work is needed. Let me know your thoughts on the Constitution Revision Group in the comments and tell me if you’d like to see the revision continue why or why not.

Activity
This segment will be on the need for more internal activity. Now I understand that the Real World definitely comes first but the RC was nearly dead for the majority of last term. The party feed was reduced to constant petty fighting and several people were instigating it.

We have to try to encourage civil discussion at every turn but the biggest problem is inactivity. The result is an echo chamber with neither side gaining ground and a whole lot of earaches. We might be able to combat this problem by disregarding it completely or by drowning out the fights with lots of active voices.

We have 114 members and it's always the same people who speak up. If you haven’t spoken up yet I encourage you to do so. If anyone needs anything please let me know as I know how hard this game can be just starting. Remember we are stronger, together.

Discord
This last segment will be about the parties discord. If you have not joined I encourage you to do so as it is a relatively fun place to hang out. We now have over 30 Party Colleagues and 123 members total. There are usually people there most of the day. Upon arrival, you will be assigned a role.
If you think we should change anything in the Discord let me know in the comments.

The Coming Election, Future Interviews and more
As far as the election goes… Vote TheNorm. No matter who wins this coming election I will be looking for an interview. Keep watching for my next article
