[Presidential Office] End-of-the-year-speech

Day 3,329, 05:53 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Het Catshuis

President Henri and Vice-President Gwom enter the room with a crowd cheering at the background.

Dear citizens of the eNetherlands, friends and allies,

Despite the holidays, we have had quite a month. With bundled forces and an unyielding determination we drove the (Latin-)American invaders back to their homeland! After the Mexicans were removed from the polders of The Netherlands, the fertile lands of La France were freed, and the shadow of Argentina has faded from Europe. Operation Antlantic Wall, a joint offensive by ORION and Asteria, was successful!

The Threat
But the war isn't over yet... It is quiet, but not safe. Our enemies may be recharging and closing several MPP's in order to have a better position against us and our dearest allies. They shall not succee😛 they can occupy our regions, exhaust our economy, but in the end WE shall STAND!! We accept nothing but victory and complete independance!!

After another round of cheers, the Vice President makes room for President Henri

Hail victory, peace and prosperity! Never has there been a moment where I was prouder of OUR nation and OUR alliance!! A new year stands before us, and we shall work as hard as ever to keep our nation strong and safe.
Such a gathering at the end of the year, deserves something special. I would like to show my gratitude to two hard working government officials, on behalf of the entire Netherlands. First, Vice-President Gwom, would you like to step forward please?

Vice-President Gwom walks to the President

My dearest colleague and friend, in the past you have proven to be a true media mogul. Your articles which correctly informed the Dutch people on our society have had a great value. For that, you received the title of Ridder (Knight) in the Order of Orange-Nassau. I, the President of the Netherlands, will now raise that rank by giving you this medal:

Gwom, you have hereby been granted the title of Officier (Officer) in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Loud applause and cheers follow..

Next up is my Presidential Advisor, mr. Shawtyl0w. Please come forward!
Shawtyl0w walks up to the stage, a round of cheers and applause follow

Hello my good friend, I personally know few who are as hard-working and dedicated as you. Not only are you of great importance in the field of military strategy, but you are a great asset to our media landscape too. You have offered us a wide variety of articles and you have been posting a lot over the course of the past year. I really enjoyed the interview we had in my last term.
Shawty, you are someone who literally cannot sleep, when things are looking ugly for the Netherlands. In the past war with Mexico you took command as Minister of Defence and Commander of TFD, and offered a crucial contribution to our victory. But not only in the past war was this the case, I have been a politician for more than a year and not once have I seen the slightest form of pragmatism in you. For your dedication and patriotism, you deserve nothing less than the next two medals:

Shawtyl0w, you have hereby been granted the Eresabel, for your extraordinary contribution to the Armed Forces of the Netherlands, alongside the title of Officier (Officer) in the Order of Orange-Nassau, for your great contribution to our nation's media landscape.

GIVE THESE GENTLEMEN AN OVERWHELMING APPLAUSE!!

Crowd goes wild.. Presidential Guard is on high alert.. no calamities occur, though.

Thank you all very much. I have one announcement to make, before you can go home to celebrate the start of the new year. When my term ends I will not only leave this precious office. But also this magnificent country. I want to travel a bit, first to France and then to another place. I will without any doubt return to this country, because this is the only place I can call home. Which is why I'm obviously going to apply for an expatriate-status. I hope the leadership will be left to at least one of the two gentlemen that are here with me today. Thank you, thank you all for your trust and your patience.
Crowd remains silent, some start to cry. Others start to shout 'PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT..!!'

This is (temporarily) goodbye...
Sincerely,

Henri the Eleventh
Country President

Gwom
Vice-President
