[Pichu Gaz.] Interview with Feynmann, The Serbian Revolution and more!

Day 3,530, 17:09 Published in USA Serbia by chriscoded

Hello eUSA, and the rest of the eRepublik!
Welcome back to Issue 2 of The Pichu Gazette!

Since the party elections are still pretty recent, today we’ll be interviewing another party president, hailing from the Federalist Party!

BREAKING NEWS: SERBIAN DICTATOR FACES LIBERATION WAR AND LOSES
Yep, the Serbian Dictatorship is under attack. As an ardent fan of democracy and ardent not-big-a-fan of Serbia, I say power to the Serbian Revolutionaries. I am very glad they succeeded in retaking Serbia.
Here they are, they New Federalist Party President, Feynmann!

So Feynmann, tell me a bit about yourself outside of being the Fed’s party president.

Well shortly: 29 years old male biotechnology guy, keeping his biochemistry degree in his back pocket. Married with one adorable kid.

Q1. Just in case any are unfamiliar with the Feds, could you tell me a bit about the party?

Well, I can't exactly give you a history lesson, since I am still nearly 5 months old, BUT as far as I've read on our forum and asked other Feds the Federalist party was one of the first eUS parties to be created. It gave birth to one of the most active communities in the game with its activities reaching far beyond the boundaries of the game. It even had a RL Fed radio for Hulk's sake!!! Damn, I would have really loved to hear that one airing live. If only I had found the game a few years back.....
Nowadays the Fed party consists of some of the coolest people, still dwelling in the game. Some are very active in game, some are active on the forums/discord, but all of them are as horny as possible.

Election Related Questions

Q2. Did you feel like this was be a hard election to win, and why?

The word I would use is exciting, because this was my first ever campaign. I had my doubts I would be elected, but I guess most of the Feds preferred my relatively high game activity and the type of motivation so characteristic for the noobs, I bring with me. The feds always try to give the new guys a chance to prove themselves, so I guess I got mine now.

Q3. What are some of your first changes and actions gonna be, or what were they?

There's not much to change. The Fed party's internal clockwork is close to perfect. But there are some things to improve. What I am trying to approve is the somewhat low media activity of the party members, recently. We are also trying to nurture our new recruits the best we can - with supplies, information or whatever they might need.

Q4. Was there a reason or strategy behind your cabinet picks?

The reason is obvious - I chose people with massive experience in their resumes and they have also taken those positions sometime in the past. Of course experience is not everything and those people had to be active enough to take the position. We also tend to include as much new players into the cabinet as possible, although this term there were not enough new players willing to spend quite some time in the game, during the summer months (perfectly understandable).

Q5. I know some parties hold primaries, and the Feds having 16 seats must be hard to hold primaries for… So, how do you plan to organize it?

We have primaries for the PP and CP elections, but we do not hold Congress primaries. We have a congress sign up form, something like a questionnaire, that every Fed, willing to run for congress, have to fill. A few days before the elections the cabinet members hold a meeting to approve or disapprove particular candidates, based on their activity, experience, motivation, how they did on their previous term (if they had one) etc. etc.

Q6. Do you plan on running for congress next term?

Yes.

Policy Related Questions

Q7. How are you going to handle Diplomacy, if you end up having to handle diplomatic relations?

I suppose you imply foreign relations diplomacy - that is the job of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the country president to some extent, not mine. If I "end up having to handle diplomatic relations" I would do as I always try to - looking for the best scenario, for the particular situation, that provides the best possible outcome for both sides. That's the goal and one can only drop down from that.

Q8. The Feds, being the largest party, also have a lot of people to supply for. How do you plan on keeping up and possibly expanding programs like “No Fed Left Behind”?

The NFLB is essential for our party and I don't think any Party president would risk losing it. It provides any Fed in need, and even those who are not really suffering that desperately, with a daily supply of food and weapons. In his PP terms our fellow Fed Hale Kane was able to add air weapons to that daily supply pack so the program is now more versatile than ever, being able to face the needs of both the ground and the air fighters.

Q9. What are some of the biggest concerns you have for the eUSA, and how will you attempt to address them in your Party Presidency and Congress Term?

Well, my biggest concern, not only for the eUS, but for the eWorld as a whole is the lack of activity. There are only a handful of active people that keep the community, therefore the game, alive.
Our local eUS problem is the lack of military activity. Yes, we have tons of resources, but eRep is mostly a military based game and what keeps most people active is the action. We see none around. Other than some sporadic RW in Ukraine we rarely see the US flag on the active wars list.
I am personally trying to support as much of war opportunities as possible, but really the congress has only the power to approve or disapprove what the CP and his/her cabinet presents as such an opportunity, cause there are many international factors that have to be taken into consideration, before going to war.

Q10. How do you plan to get new players into the Federalist Party?

We do not imply some aggressive recruitment techniques. Yes, we have a Recruitment director who sends the occasional welcome message to newcomers without established political allegiance, but that's pretty much it.
We prefer the new recruits to chose joining the Feds by themselves, by realizing the Fed party can provide them with the best possible game experience and one of the coolest in-game communities to be part of. So we try to advertise, to some extent, those aspects of the Fed party in our media.

Q11. Is there anything in the party or eUSA you want to stop, and why?

The lack of regular military activity of the eUS is on top of the list.

New Player Advice

Q12. As a very well-off and well-established player, do you have any advice for players just getting started?

LMAO, I'm not that " well-off and well-established player". I'm still a noob, who has a lot more to learn and often facing a lot of "You know nothing John Snow" moments.

But I can tell you that. I can't possibly stress enough how important are the social contacts in the game. Talk to people. Make friends. The best way to start is to go for the "Journalist" and "Add 100 friends" missions. They are the best thought missions of all the rest. With the Media missions you get to present yourself, so people can know you even exist. Try not to waste that opportunity with articles like: "I'm noob pls give me 25 comments for the mission". Write something cool - actually present yourself, write something about your country or make an interview (wink wink). Anything, but begging.

The "add 100 friends" mission is equally important. Screw the number 100, make 200 ... 300 .. more. As much as you can. Start with your MU, Party, then move to article comments etc. Find the players that are still alive and kicking. They are usually very active and post a bunch of information, vital for new players - active battles, active Combat orders, Giveaways, supplies etc. etc.

Being able to get these 2 done will assure you the best possible start.

Q13. Since you also just won the Party Presidency, what is your advice for politicians who are just getting started, and possibly running for congress, this position or even president?

Pretty much the same as my previous answer. BE ACTIVE, talk to people. Join the discord channels, forums etc. No one will make you a congressman if they don't know you exist.

Miscellaneous Questions

Q14. I know with their size and political power the Feds likely don’t need to work with other parties too much, but do you plan to work with other parties to accomplish you goals?

There is no party in the eUS Congress that have an absolute majority. So even the Feds need the support of at least 1 other party. That is actually great, cause the other case scenario will be boring AF.
As far as I am concerned I am pretty much opened to work with any party or individual (well ALMOST any individual). So if the topic of interest is actually cool I will support it, no matter which individual or party proposed it.

Q15. Here’s the most important Question: Can I be the Minister of Fun or some throwaway title for shits n’ giggles that gives me little power?

You can be pretty much anything you want. Go for it 🙂

Last Question: Is there anything else you’d like to say?

Always be good to each other.

What a great guy. I’m quite glad he won the PP, and I’m also glad I now understand the Feds a bit more. 🙂 It was an honor to interview him, and I hope next issue’s interview will be just as cool as that.
Recent Headlines
Serbia Losing Land! The global empire is starting to lose resistance wars against Argentina and Croatia! Argentina, a conquered country, is beginning to restore itself to its former glory. Croatia is getting quickly reconquered, but Argentina is doing very well. All I can say to countries dominated by Serbia is that you must rise like the red dawn and end the reign of eSerbia. Together, we can beat them. (Especially Canada, Serbian Canada spooks me out.)
Ukraine Conquered! Recently, the powerful countries of Romania and America have conquered Ukraine. Since none of these countries completely dominate the world, I think these colonial holdings are okay. However, Ukraine, I wish you the best of luck and that you may someday retake some territory (preferably Romanian). For some reason, Ukraine and Sweden also ceased trading.
Slovenia LOSES to Nigeria? Slovenia, a rather powerful country lost to Nigeria and Venezuela when they tried to conquer them. Whether this is bad luck, bad planning or allies is yet to be seen.
Slovenia is STRONGER than Serbia, who is also no longer an Empire!

Good job Slovenia, the new Top Dog of the eRepublic!

(On a similar note, Serbian RWs are VERY common.)
The Current Congress
The Mutual Defence Pact with France is a good idea, but I’m pretty sure they just want to use the eUSA’s might in order to beat back Ireland. This is because Ireland recently declared France their Natural Enemy. Therefore, they might be looking for our support or neutrality should a French-Irish war happen.
Lowering VAT Taxes on Moving Tickets currently has no effect on the game, since moving tickets cannot be produced.
Lowering VAT Taxes on Weapons and Food, on the other hand, is not a good call. While the eUSA is a very wealthy country which can very much do with the lowering, but it’s quite stable and high value revenue, from 12,800$ at the least to 31,590$ at the most (Day 3,520 to 3,526).The lowering from 5% to 1% nay get us significantly less profit for the Treasury, and that’s just not the best. Plus, nobody seems to be complaining about the 5% VAT taxes… It’s just weird.
The US Air Strike Against the UAE, was not a good idea in my opinion. It gives us access to a region that is small and not the strongest (although they’re still pretty tough). It doesn’t give us any of that sweet Neodymium, and it won’t be a region we can really put to too much use unless it opens up a good route to Asia that I’m not seeing. I’m also mildly peeved that we spend thousands of energy and currency that were mostly donated to help this. While the UAE did screw with an ally of ours, it is still a weird and kinda dumb reason to strike. If I wasn’t so busy in Serbia and real life, I would’ve jumped in on this war from the start. Even if we get into a weird or even stupid war, we can still win it and conquer for America! Looking back now that I know it was New Zealand's, it makes sense if we have a plan.
Setting the USA's Natural Enemy as New Zealand after taking UAE’s territory there is a smart move, which could serve as as jumping off point for asian conquest without trying to touch Russia. I feel like it shows that we’re definitely gonna war with them and conquer them for the glorious US.
Speculation Corner
Since we just went to war with the United Arab Emirates, I would like to propose a plan that may be risky, possibly even insane, but could tip the global power balance (and would definitely start the next World War). A Serbian-American war. Since another dictator is bound to rise in Serbia, along with plenty more RW’s, all we need to do is pick a chaotic time to strike. Like if there are a few RW’s happening, and a Liberation of a Dictator, Serbia itself may not have the power to stop us from rolling in and weakening them at least a bit. While their allies are strong as hell, our allies are no slouches either. Plus, while it’d be chaotic, it’d be fun! A friend of mine on here said that one of the most fun times he had in game was when Serbia had totally conquered America.

That’s a wrap on issue 2! Good day to all of you, and have a prosperous eLife!
