[MoHA] Final Article

[MoHA]Final Article

Due to the collapse of BigAnt's Government and the thefts from the Treasury and private rented orgs, the whole Cabinet but for one or two resigned.

I resigned as co-MoHA but was kept on by the caretaker leader of the Cabinet, NWG.

Impeachment of Bigant is imminent and his successor, Prof Moriarty has selected a new Cabinet.

As such, before signing off, I turn to the business of Home Affairs.

In summary of the term, firstly, I hope you have found my co-Minister's articles helpful from an educational point of view, and if you haven't seen em yet, you can take a look here:

Thanks very much for your efforts this term, Goku.

Also on the Home Affairs front, this term we had the open and transparent REFERENDUM on our membership of Sirius.

I can't remember the last time such a serious issue [no pun intended] was voted on by the public in the eUK like that for all to see.

I hope the inclusive and transparent format used will set a precedent for important decisions in the future - rather than shady deals made by a few behind closed doors which have been a familiar part of our past.

On the entertainment front, the Ministry had a bumpy start not least due to the fact the Government had been locked out of the Home Affairs org which had the prize funds in since the start of the term.

Nevertheless, at the invitation of the eIndian MoHA, I accepted a challenge to a cricket themed article writing contest based on the ongoing Test series between our two nations irl.

James Anderson is innocent

Unfortunately, uptake for the tournament was slow and feedback wasn't great, so both the eIndians and I agreed to withdraw the tournament.

In its place, an all eUK Poker Tournament has been proposed.

big money, cash prizes

Whilst I will not have time to see through the start up of the tournament, I hope the incoming MoHA will consider the merits of the proposal at their convenience.

The tournament would be funded by the Government and would be free to enter.

A free web based poker app/game would be used of which there are many common ones.

A international dimension has been considered and the Germans and Irish have been mooted as possible guests (and maybe even india too?).

The respective Governments would be expected to contribute equally to the prize pool.

The game would be no limit texas hold em, tournament play.

No buy in's or individual top ups would be allowed.

The idea has been discussed on IRC and has previously been put forward in alternative formats before but never really followed through with.

Given the positive feedback I've had for the idea, it seems like lots of people would consider taking part and I think it would be a great way to start having some fun again.

Anyone who's interested, I invite you to contact my successor, Wookie O.

In conclusion, special thanks to the eUK public for getting involved in the referendum - whilst I was personally disappointed with the result, I think the activity it created as evidenced by the vote count is something to be lauded.

Signing off,

Sven Goran Duran-Duran, DSO
