[MoE] Responsibilities in a Democracy

Day 3,402, 08:52 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Ministerie van Media en Recrui

Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,

As the cost for upholding a dictatorship goes up quite a horrible lot (more about this here) the government is planing to remove the dictatorship. But this comes with quite some responsibilities. The dictatorship granted us a great deal of safety, without it we have to be extra alert for foreign MU's and individuals in our congress...

PS: If you aren't in a reading mood, feel free to skip the bulk of this article, but I urgently request you to read the last summary paragraph!

Congress in times of democracy

Without a dictatorship, the in-game congress has actual power! No longer do we need to ask the dictator to execute our plans and motions, but the congress members themselves can vote for them directly in-game. But great power comes with great responsibility...

As we are a small community, we have great trouble in filling our 40 congress seats. This means every person who candidates him/herself for Congress member gets elected. This is no problem as long as all candidates are trusted eDutch citizens. But also people with not so good intentions can get elected very easily. This means that our immigration policy needs to be tightened, and that the Party Presidents need to be extremely careful with who is on their candidacy list.

The Country President in times of democracy

Just like the congress, the CP gets real power as well. The position once again becomes one of the most powerful in eNL. But this brings some risks as well...

With the dictatorship we were protected against CPs with bad intentions, as the CP had to ask the dictator to execute his plans. The risk of a person with wrong intentions getting elected CP is not as big as that with the Congress. But there is still a risk. And if it goes wrong, it goes wrong good. (Some of you will remember the case of 'Lord Jale', a former CP who turned out to be a foreign multi and attempted to remove all of our monetary reserves, only to be stopped be the fast acting of the congress). Now the responsibility lies with all of you! Do inform yourself before voting for a CP candidate! If the wrong person gets into office, a lot of harm can be done...

A traitor of the likes of Balthasar Gerards...

Military Units in times of democracy

When we switch to a democracy a very prestigious and powerful position becomes vacant: The Dictatorship of eNL.
This position can be taken by the commander of a MU by means of a civil war. The MU has to exist at least 60 days, and the commander has to be commander of the MU for at least 2 weeks. This means we have to be extremely careful with the MUs in our country, especially those with a lot of foreign members. Also electing commanders for MUs has become a risky task now, as the wrong person in the wrong position can drive our country into civil war.

Summary
So to sum it all up:

*Party Presidents
- Take care who is on your candidacy list for Congress Member!
- Take extreme care who you support as candidate for Country President!

*Ministry of Home Affairs
- Take care with accepting foreign players!
- Keep track of the MUs in our country to prevent civil war!

*Every eDutch citizen
- Take extra care whom you vote for at the CP elections!
I hope you are now aware of the responsibilities democracy brings with it! And I also hope I won't get executed for spreading this anti-dictatorship propaganda.... 😉
