[HN] Clearing Up Some Controversy

Day 1,347, 13:40 Published in Malaysia USA by Sir Hypnotoad

In the past few days, we have seen an absolutely sickening level of controversy within eMalaysia, and it is horrifyingly sickening to me. Therefore, I will attempt to clear some of this up.

The situation:

This article, released a few days ago, stated now-former PKeM Party President JUJAI23's intention to run for Country President. On the outside, this is just fine-a little competition is healthy. But upon reading the reasons, there were several problems with it:

The problems:

*The cited reason JUJAI23 wanted to run for President was that
"according to the party's constitution, a CP candidates must have a position in Supreme Council so that he can involve in candidacy discussion.. The discussion have been made and they want me to run for CP position.(party constitution)"

Here is where the problems started. There are two problems in this quote alone. Firstly, no such discussion was ever held. There was no thread opened in the forums, there was no discussion held, and no one expressed support for JUJAI23 running for President. It was never brought before the Supreme Council. I'm not sure if I could be clearer on this. The second problem is that

The second problem requires a little more explanation. Before the article in question was written, former PKeM Chairman Video Jack wrote an article, in which he announced he was leaving eMalaysia, and was appointing Dr. Straatman as Interim Chairman, until an election for Chairman was held. This means that Dr. Straatman was perfectly fit to run for President under the PKeM banner.

*We then move further down the article from JUJAI23, to find this:
"As you know, i am supreme member in PKeM.. And i won the party's vice president post last month. I am representing people voice in this party.. i have to deny dr Sraatman intention to run for CP post.. according to constitution, he is regular member, and does not hold any position in this party"

In which JUJAI23 unilaterally decided that Dr. Straatman was not eligible to run for President, even though Dr. Straatman was (and still is) the Interim Chairman, and placed himself (JUJAI23) as PKeM's pick for CP.

The result:

A massive shitstorm. There is no other way to describe it. Earlier today, JUJAI23 announced his resignation. This letter of resignation (and the comments therein) still show a serious lack of understanding of the situation at hand. Dr. Straatman did not declare himself Chairman. There was no back-room deal. There was nothing shady. No conspiracy. Nothing other than a lack of communication and of understanding.

We also have terribly misinformed article such as this one, that do nothing but spread the misinformation.

What can we learn?

From this controversy, we can learn several things. Chiefly among them, our political leaders need to pay more attention to what is happening. There needs to be a high level of communication, both between political leaders, and with the people of eMalaysia. There has been a short supply of both. Also, people must try to learn all of the facts before throwing around random accusations.

I hope I've helped shed some light on this controversy. I am absolutely sick to my stomach having to write this. Don't ever make me do it again.
