In very broad terms, eRepublik is a great “escapism” from real life. You create your own ePlayer, your own personality, and you choose your own adventure. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Growing up, I always wanted to be a political figure. I've explained in a previous article how I was involved in real life politics but now, I still aspire to be a political figure... Maybe not in this lifetime but I have too many hobbies at the moment; Video Games, going to movies (Pre-Covid-19 days), road trips and yelling at the weather report each morning.

It takes up a lot of effort to join and work within a political campaign or any politics in real life, trust me. It's a lot of time and effort and it will swallow all of your personal time.

Growing up, I have always taken an interest in LARPing. It seemed like a fun edventure getaway from reality to create your own persona, kind of like D&D but it's outside.

When I was young, I thought it was ‘too nerdy’ but as an adult I found it very interesting and fun. I go to Comic Cons just about every year and other nerdy stuff. Thing is, LARPing is way too much for me to handle...I think. It involves a lot of time and effort and I have always felt like this would take up a big part of real life...IDK.

Growing up, especially in High school years. My senior year I signed up for eRepublik and that was 10.5 years ago! I grew up trying to make as many friends as I could. I tried to build a persona so people could like me but I kept getting pushed away. A lonely loser, in my own head. Senior year came around, and I decided it was time for me to just be me and if anyone didn't like that well.... that's just too damn bad.

eRepublik gives me the ability to role play in our own little world; I can be a political figure, I can role play to some extent and I can just be myself. Who am I to judge?

Over the years. I have developed multiple REAL LIFE friendships with a handful of eRep players. Infact, one of my old WWW Co-Hosts recently got in touch with me in December of 2019 and we’ve been playing catch up, giggling like little kids, and enjoying just talking for hours on the phone about all things life.

Like every browser or MMO game, you start to kindle a special bond with players on and off the court. You're not just playing the game, you are part of it. You are part of a community of gamers alike who all have that special bond with eRepublik itself.

Sure, none of us are not going to be a real president , but we can play as one. We can hope to be one and within our own little community we have built up. That's what eRep means to me. That we can do something and be something in our own little world. I can be something that I can’t.

Every day, we are making a real difference within our own gaming community. Oddly enough, I have that self pride every day making a positive impact. For example, I was one of the lucky bugs who are once again in Congress. I can finally continue to make a good difference (more on that in a future article.)

Yeah sure, we all have different idology how our eCountry is supposed to run but the one thing you gotta make sure is.... Are you having fun while doing it?

Last words:

With that being said;

It will break my heart of 10 years or whatever it will be, when eRepublik shuts its doors. I know there are a handful of other browser based political games, but this one has its special kind of special. Sure, I’ve spent so much of my friggin 'hard work saving and building up my factories, but it's also what the game as a whole means to me.

The community, political module, military module, and of course writing my heart out with long articles. Also, a side note; I am going to go back to writing political stuff and such. I want to write an in-depth article about why I ran for Congress and what I hope to make a positive change in. Stay tuned for that!

My question for my readers are: What does eRep mean to you?

Have a good Monday...
