I would say number 2. Why not number 1 or 3?

The first one is a woman with a lot of skin exposed. Everybody and they mama got that kind of avatar at some point and thus it is too mainstream and boring. She may be a fine-looking woman, but the picture is too boring in this day and age, and the finger and the text "whatever" actually doesn't really make it any less mainstream and boring.

The third? The cartoon the characters come from may or may not be good, but the picture isn't really that good avatar-wise for a game like this one. No offense, but it's looking too outdated for a game like this in my opinion, and while she may be in "human form", there isn't anything that ties her in with this game in any way. Mermaids are not exactly the first creatures you think of when you think "war", even if it's wars taking place in fiction. The demographic of Disney movies and cartoons are also generally children and young teenagers, not adults. This game does not have the same demographic at all. Sure she may be striking a somewhat adult pose, but she ultimately does not represent adult themes, nor this game. The picture simply does not fit this game at all whatsoever.

The reason why I would go with number 2 is because it's fairly unique and it shows what I believe is a tank, which is something that is used in this game. On top of the tank being an item in this game that you can acquire and use, tanks generally also symbolize what this game is all about these days: war. Furthermore, the red on his face can be taken to be blood, a liquid that's commonly seen in war for obvious reasons.
It's not the best drawing I have seen, but it just barely classifies as one that is good enough to be analyzed. Which is great, and one more reason why this picture should be the one to win if you ask me.

Note: I'm not saying any pictures on the list are bad on their own. I don't think the artists are bad. The pictures are only bad as avatars in this context.

thank you for the analysis, agree for the most part, yet it is a competition and smut is tough to beat with this audience, and I entered #2 for the reasons you stated. and it happens to be my artwork, pastels on 5 x 7 (inches) paper - actual size but cropped

It is a contest to give me a new avatar. Any of the 3 would be acceptable to me.

Still, I like writing comments like these every once in a while, even if my opinion is irrelevant and I spend 20-30 minutes writing the comment. I think I just like writing. Re-reading my comment, I hope I didn't sound too harsh; it really is a great drawing. I don't know if the contest is over, but if not, I hope you win.

@WhydoIbotherToo It's good if any of them are acceptable to you, but I felt like speaking my mind. Even if it is a contest and my comment is ultimately useless. I can be irrational like that, especially if no one else has written a somewhat lengthy comment like mine : P
