It seems the majority has spoken, we will now be operating at a democracy for the foreseeable future. It will be a rather slow process to start, dusting off the forums and getting people back in the dealings of our crazy politics but it'll be good and spice up some activity. We have avoided a civil war here in Canada, something that could have potentially ruined our little community and now we must stick by our decision. Shortly, my team and I will be presenting a series of ideas to congress so that this government, nor any from the future cannot implement a dictatorship without the consent of the majority of the player base in eCanada.
Why no Option C?
Reading over the comments in the referendum article, I saw quite a few that mentioned the lack of a Option "C", something along the lines written here and here. The problem with these is not the idea, but the method of getting there. If Option A had been selected, there would have been a civil war over who got to choose the next leader and how the dictatorship was to be run. There was no guarantee that any "C" option could have been a reality had it won the votes in the referendum, hence the only two options, A: any dictatorship or B: democracy.
The Remainder
Now that we've decided what government we want, there are a few final things I want to go through quickly.
Firstly, since all the drama has died down, I would like to implement a few social/fun events, some players have already volunteered to help, so if you're interested, shoot me a PM! The more the merrier.
Secondly, and probably self explanatory, the rest of the term will likely hold minimal excitement in ways of wars and such for the time being as we get on our feet and build a treasury for PTO defense/crazy Canuck adventures. We recently finished our TW with Ireland and owe them back their taxes, roughly 35k.
Lastly and most importantly, we have one final issue. Rylde, while being removed 290 000 CC from the country accounts. Now, 90k was removed after he was overthrown so I've sent a ticket to the admins and we will get that money back into Canada's accounts (plus whatever repercussions he faces, if any).
Now the remaining 200k he technically took legally in regards to the game system, however he has declared he will keep 100k for himself (claiming he's owed by eCan) and that he will keep the 100k to make sure we don't throw Canada into a dictatorship. The first 100 000 we can afford to replace if that means Rylde "calls it even", however the second 100k is being held ransom, which is unacceptable, all he needs to do is deposit it in the country accounts. Then if the money is wanted, there would have to be congressional approval. This is not Rylde's money, it is Canada's money, let him know that.
Comments
Thank you for addressing the Option C discussion. It's unfortunate that civil war will later be required to hash out the details of eCanada's next dictatorship. Hopefully some advance discussion about some of the dictatorship options available can shorten that future conflict. That said, at least the current democracy will lead to interesting times ahead.
Glad to see Canada sorting its things.
We're waiting for ya to get back to normal so we can have some fun together 😉
Them's fightin' words...INVADE
Sink or swim we are now going with democracy. If it blows up in our faces letsl not panic. Determination builds incredible fast. We are in this for the long haul. United we have a decent shot at this.
Since Rylde is happy that Canada is a Democracy and he is no longer Dictator I have an offer to make. I relieved Rylde of the dictator burden. It cost 200k for me to start the revolution. Rylde can repay me as a thank you for making his wishes come true. I don't need to be repaid because I did Canada a favor so I will turn the 200k over to Bryan.
Problem solved.
For the good of the colony!!!
Shit dude. His mom ain't got that kind of money.
On another note, in case you have not figured it out by now, Rydle is an asshole so stop supporting the idiot. . The rest of us generally work as team. The majority want democracy so will all work to keep democracy and not play little mind games like Rylde..
Unfortunately for you I do something a lot of others don't do around here regardless if you think I'm an a**hole. I promote activity even if your team doesn't like what I do others like the fun I bring them in a crappy game.
After a few months of your team sucking dry the countries entertainment there will be a place for me front and center at the table as usual.
Always been that way and always will be so see ya in a few months.
Just give us our money we need to stop the next coup now that you have your much loved democracy.
I don't love democracy. At this time was just the best scenario for me. Be patient and build up resources The gameboard was set up and it was to close to tell what the outcome would have been and expensive at that.
By backing democracy I just reset the board. I'm now on my own clock and timeframe and not Dills or the Govts.
I got to say, Rylde, you actually really dropped the ball on the entertainment front. Other than uniting the clans to boot you out in an anticlimactic waste-of-money battle, we only had a few days of fighting in training wars and a few days of fighting in real wars against enemies that only you seem to still harbour a grudge for. No other attempt was made to stem the bleeding of our population through other means.
The war against Albania was actually a Klop vendetta. We had a TW but nm else we could do being broke and whatnot after Albania. I was talking more about the last two weeks waking everyone up in time for democracy.
There is only so much one player can do as well when no one else wants to try to get anything going and that goes for everyone.
Guess that's on me Chochi as I used to be able to get the whole of the nation involved in something. I've lost a step in my old eAge.
the majority has spoken
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Crazy son of a bitches. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

vote
No, all the money back or there is no even.

Works until hostile dictator. Good luck
not even 50% of the canadian electorate. hardly representative of the public opinion
Unfortunately in a democracy it's only the votes cast that count.
some of the public are indifferent
eg. Mary Chan 😉

The options were not mutually exclusive. You can have complete democracy and a dictator at the same time.... something which should be obvious to anyone living in a RealLife country like Canada where that is precisely what exists. That being said, carry on....
its refreshing to see somebody else saying that, it gets old always trying to explain to people and have them argue...
