Winter Event – A damper on the fun?

The long version;
It’s been over a month now we had the winter event and it’s coming to an end. Players are trying to exchange, sell or buy their last gifts. Some will have had thousands others only a few. It was fun for all. If you were either the large hitter that wanted the treats or the small one that liked the money you could earn with them.
The players that gathered a lot of gifts might still have a few challenges left. Some fairly easy, some undoable. And the latter is what made me contact the admins almost 3 weeks ago already. So what’s the issue I think there is?
A gift consisted of treats, Snow Fight Tokens, and Prestige Points Boosters. As with the event itself I like(d) them a lot. Not that much that I would pay the amounts I have seen coming by but still.
For using the treats you’ve had weeks in which you could fight hard for the cause you saw just, use them tactically to score high prestige points over the week in epic battles and score your first Prestige Hunter medal, or any other way possible. And if you still have treats left you have 3 days to use them which should be rather straight forward.
Now let’s have a look at the Snow Fight Token and Prestige Points Booster. It gives you 10% damage bonus for 3 minutes and an extra Prestige Point per hit. I myself have had 4 weeks in which I had max energy recovery (in my case 800/hr). I used them both whenever I fought so I did do 10% bonus damage on every hit and scored an extra Prestige Point with every hit. So I had the Prestige Hunter medal every week. For some that’s business as usual, for most it isn’t. In a normal week I reach around 20k Prestige which already is above average I believe.
Now as I stated I used the Token and Booster every time it was possible. Still at this point I have 1,096 Snow Fight Tokens left and 1,161 Prestige Point Boosters. It will be impossible to use them on time for me and I’m pretty sure there are a lot of others that have the same or an even bigger amount left.
Now let me be clear I am not complaining. The winter event and the use of tokens and boosters have been great and I enjoyed it a lot due to fighting more, gaining more medals and gaining standard EB’s for future use in battles that matter. So a complaint is absolutely out of the question.
Why did I write to the admins then? Well, it might be my education, but I find spoiling something we should avoid at all cost. And as I stated above I did use Tokens and Treats all the time yet were unable to use them all. So they would go to waste. I saw that coming almost immediately so I asked the admins to extend the possible use or even remove the expiration entirely. The latter feels a bit strange for snow fun though but then again wasting does not seem right and it can’t be prevented.
The argumentation I had was this;

During the, very nice, Christmas event a lot of players received gifts from others. Be it as gift, exchanging or even buying them. Some more than others naturally. I myself think I scored rather well but certainly not as one of the major ones. However even I will face the fact the snow tokens and Prestige Point Boosters will expire before I will be able to use them. I use them every time I fight but still. I also still have a nice bit of treats but those are of course easy to use before they expire. Tokens and PPB's however are not. I'm sure a lot of players will have the same issue. Mainly the bigger players/larger spenders that were very active gaining gifts by fighting a lot and exchanging/buying them.
Via this ticket I urge you to extend the expiration date of the Tokens and PPB's or even better: get rid of it completely. I'm sure that will be appreciated highly. Also it will have a nice effect on the game itself as it will boost the use of resources. People will have a larger energy regeneration and therefore a higher need to use food and tanks and thus the need for companies will increase again.
Of course it will create a small advantage for the players still having the tokens and PPB's. However as these are players that likely are all bigger players/larger spenders and were the ones that made the Christmas event the success it was I think it's a nice gesture for them. When it comes to advantages when fighting it will not have a real effect on the outcome of battles. It simply creates more action and a larger resource usage.
I'm curious on how you think about this!
The reply stated they had already been discussing the matter but were not able to extend the date and had no plans to do so.
Now I wonder if I’m the only one and just oversaw a way to use them or that it’s a common issue. Therefore I ask you to state the number of Tokens and Boosters you have left in the comments like this;

I think there are a lot of people who did not have receive more than 10 gifts.
I think you as a "tank" in NL managed to exchange a lot of gifts. I'm not sure these boosters should be extended leaning towards no.
Sollution to make everyone happy? Devide by 10 or even 100 and what's left gets 30 day extention.

Agreed on the fact I'm the exception in NL so to speak. Although with several in NL I exchanged 100 or more gifts. Notie, 911mic and europecrisseswar for instance. With others I exchanged smaller amounts or bought (large) amounts so don't underestimate the amounts gained in NL. And I've seen several people shouting and answering exchange requests as well.
Internationally however we have really large tanks (I don't consider my self as such) so I'm very curious.
A few thousands left of both boosters.

If the hard hitters, as you say, got all the presents there were to get, it's only natural that some of them will spoil now... I'm sure there were a lot of players who didn't have enough gifts to spend 24/7 like that... It's all a matter of distribution, like everything else...
I think the majority couldn't use then 24/7. But one doesn't need to do so to profit largely. After all especially the less active players fight only a few times a day so you would not have needed that much to be able to use them always when fighting.

I definitely could have used mine a bit more often so that they would be used up by the deadline.
And I also think the deadline is fair. It means that beyond a certain point these gifts lose their value, because you end up having to use these boosters on less and less important battles, for fewer and fewer hits. Also, the advantage that players who received gifts have compared to players who were perhaps temporarily inactive during the event will soon disappear.
The limited time that these boosters were available was communicated clearly, so I think the admins are doing the right thing sticking to this time. Otherwise, in hindsight some people might have wanted to buy/exchange more gifts. It would be weird to put the people who made sure they received the right amount and finish them on time suddenly at a disadvantage.
I used mine always when fighting after the event so I could not have used more.
Deadline was indeed communicated clearly. It's just a shame to let them go to waste. Especially the PP boosters. Keeping them would have given the option to several players to reach Prestige Hunter medal and the rewards that you get before reaching it. or at least more rewards than normally would have been the case.
As for using boosters and such on less important battles: That's the case with FF as well nowadays. So I try to prepare for times when we have important battles. In that respect I would have loved to keep the PP boosters longer.

Well no. But if I would have bought to much to eat in time I would put some in the fridge and use after that date.
so may be this is the solution - you can buy a fridge for 100 euro and keep your boosters for 3 more months 😉

It should expire and a lesson to tanks to leave some for others.
I think the others had all the chances as apart from D4 every now and then fighting wasn't particularly fierce during the event. If you were there at the start of a round you had all the chances to score gifts and BH medals. Gifts you often could score with a few hits or even a single hit. So it was not really an event for tanks like we have when BH medal gold is x4...

I would have preferred that they could be used for a longer period, but they said it was limited time so I adapted my strategy accordingly. This way they make sure people fight more moved by the urgency of using their boosters, otherwise a lot of us would have stopped a long ago and kept them for "the future".
I adapted as far as possible. Meaning using the Tokens and boosters always and spreading the treats over the weeks we had left. Used the last stock this morning in the first epic...

Also, I think MU-boosters are a great concept. Maybe make them 15-20 % and very rare to force people to coordinate with their friends/MU when to use it.
Agreed on the MU booster remark. Would be a nice addition.
I seem to remember they were online at some point. There were 3 or 4 types of boosters. I remember there even was one that forces enemies to fight without weapons.

While I like the boosters myself I think it'd be unfair to have them permanent. I'm sure most are out of them by now and giving potentially thousands of free PP boosters (aka a free ride in this game) for weeks/months to come doesn't feel right. Something like giving 5-10 boosters permanently to everyone would be fine or something.
Permanent would ofc be nice if you look at the rewards you can get from the weekly challenge that way. But indeed not realistic. 4 weeks more or so (or till the end of winter?) I would have highly appreciated. Could have boosted my EB stock nicely. But that was the case the last few weeks as well so I'm not complaining 😉

You made me look in my inventory, were I found out that I still had a gift, so I gave that one away fast. Now I have only 2 snowflakes and 2 ppb's left. But it was a chalenge to get rid of all the ppb's in time, as I became a lot of gifts a few days ago.
