Why I joined UKRP

Day 1,753, 09:00 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Elvis Trout

Back in the old days, when I was just a little troutling, there were essentially 2 parties, UKRP and TUP. I suppose there must have been some amount of PCP around because they were busy inventing the commune system that all MUs use today. Now that may sound like inventing the wheel, but people did actually have to do it at some point. Now I never joined UKRP in those days, I chilled downstream with some party that doesn't exist any more and hardly anyone remembers, but we were political allies with UKRP. We'd sit in IRC together and be like “yo, we friends right?” and they'd be like “yea we're friends”. During elections we would swap excess votes, help each other with Anti-Takeover measures and generally do a lot of mutual backscratching, it was a good time in Erep, WAM hadn't come along, and we did cool stuff like staying up past our bedtimes to defend London. Now I never considered joining UKRP in those days because I had my lovely buddies in BDP, god rest (some of) their eSouls, but one day a bad thing happened cough Nick Gr-cough you racist member stealing basta-coughcough sorry folks my lungs ain't what they were, anyways BDP was no more. Where could I turn? I wanted a party that was refined, I wanted an armchair beside the fire and an oak aged whiskey, I wanted UKRP.

Now UKRP has some nice friendly folk to natter with over the cheese and port, there's John Rupert Miranda, so well known among the forigs they refer to him in reverential tones as 'Don Esteban' even though his name isn't Stephen, Daniel Thorrold when not busy supplying our armed forces with weapons can be found supplying us with anecdotes of his time in the mediterranean as a travelling barrel-organ salesman, and there's good old Sir Humphrey Appleby, who idles away the twilight hours writing whimsical haikus for his mother-in-law. Even if our party isn't for you, come meet these delightful chaps and more in #ukrp
